update on 1st breaking veil: 75%

at this point most of the cap is detached from the stem. how much bigger will it get and when should i pick it?

how should harvesting be done?

If the larger shrooms are picked now, they will last fresh just a little longer.

You can let them go a few more days to fully open so that you can get prints from them. They will not drop spores at this stage, obviously, because the cap is closed and the spores are a few days from maturiy, ime.

To harvest, just grasp the stem of the shroom as close to the cake as possible and gently pull and/ or twist them off.

The larger shrooms on that cake will not get much bigger, if at all.
The smaller ones there will and I would leave them on for now to grow a little more. They will not get as big as the largest ones on the cake, though.

it depends on what you want. to print you do need to let it open up the rest of the way, it might get a little bigger. if i am not printing i like to pick them at that point so spores dont get all over everything.

I like picking just before or just as the veil tears. You dont get spores everywhere like twoguys said, but I think their most potent at that point. Dont know how true that is but its what I have heard.

i think there is some truth in that they are stronger then. i found it to be true, ime. no other proof though.
