Heatbomb Question :) In the Process of making my first heatbomb right now. Broke down and bought a 50 Watt fish tank heater that was way overpriced at my local petco. My only question is, if some of my heating element sticks out in the air, it won't cause it to fry will it? Sorry wish I had a camera I could show you guys what is actually exposed, not much though, about 5 milimetersEDIT: it is a fully submersible.... have been reading and some recommend putting the whole thing in with just cord out..... but how do you adjust temp then?

My buddy got one of the submersible ones, and he submersed the whole thing in a pickle jar. It doesn't have a temperature gauge, but the instructions said it would keep the water at "between 76 and 80" degrees F. So, she'll try and use it as a small heater and if it doesn't work out, she can always adjust up/down using tin foil, fans, etc etc..

this is correct, i initially made mine stuck out of the top of the jar too per the pics in the heatbomb teks. i ran it like that for a few hours with no problem but upon reading the instruction manual i saw that was listed as a "no no". so i completely submerged the entire heater under water and have the wire just coming through the jar lid. either way is good because if you look at your heater it will have a line that divides the actual heating element from the top just make sure that part is definitely submerged and make sure the water doesn't go down far past that point. i just crank mine up to high and leave it submerged. reminder, always unplug the element before removing it from water
