Aquarium water

I was hanging out with a friend, and he had an impressive fish tank. He was changing out some water, and I couldn't help but wonder how old water from a freshwater tank would work in lieu of lake water? It's got the fish poo, that's for sure. Anyone ever thought about this, or tried it?

Try it. Only one way to find out. If he uses any fungicide, you could be very disappointed.

Oh yeah, should have mentioned. There's actually some fungus growing on a log in the water, so I don't think the fungicide's going to be a problem. More likely there will be too much competition, even after sterilization. But who knows. I'll make up a flat of jars this weekend and try it out!

I don't really think after sterilization there would be any competition.

I've thought about this topic myself. I think it would work fine. Maybe not the variety of nutes that could be found in a pond or stream, but better than tap water.

I used it. I really couldnt tell alot of difference.
