![]() | Yes you can make an LC, Pans prefer manure with a 1 inch susbtrate depth, and a 1/4th inch casing layer, they require heavy FAE, and like warmer temps. Pans are VERY fast to pin/fruit, but can take a while to colonize, WBS will work, but it MUST be spawned. I wouldn't say that your substrate choice WONT work, but i've only ever been able to get them to fruit the way I want them too, off of cow/straw, or horse/straw, horse/straw has been my best results. I am refering to copelandias. I am unsure if tropicalis would bear any difference. |

![]() | The best help I can offer is to suggest you look up waylitjim's pan tek in the vaults and follow it exactly. the man is the master of the exotics.

![]() ![]() ![]() | hey scanman, we start our pans on WBS then spawn them too poo/straw mix. We use a jiffy mix/verm casing. We've had good luck using the jiffy mix as a casing layer. As limeade stated pans like it a bit warmer than cubes to fruit. Also, we don't shake our jars. Pan mycelium is a bit more fragile than cubes. So ime, the less it has to recover the better is does.

![]() | Pans ... I Would Go With Waylit's Pan Recipe And Then Crumbling A Few Cakes To Each Tub That You Will Use. Go With About 2 to 2 1/2 " For A Substrate Depth. Now When You Spawn , Go With A 50 % Straw 25 % Coir & Vermic And The 25 % Horse Poo " Has Good , Fluffy Consistancy " Spawn And Cover With Foil. Then Case With Coir & Vermiculite Like Any Other. Just Incubate A Bit Warmer . Around 80 Deg. And Fruit At The Same 80 to 84 Deg. Should Work . This Receipie Worked For Myself And Should Work 4 You. Its Just As Easy As Cubes But It Takes A Bit To Get It Right Due To How Sensitive The Mycillium Is . In My Opinion , WBS Is DifficultDue To , If You Shake Too Soon Or Even Once During Colonisation ,The Mycillium Might Not Recover. This Is Why I Like To Stick With The BRF With Horse Manure Added For Spore Germination. Hope This Helps.

![]() | Hippie's Mycrotopia also sells some nice donkey doo pancake jars that work fabulous for pan substrates. Waylit's recipe is a good one too! Good luck Scanman, I didn't have any good pan fruitings/experiences until I threw my stuff outside I'm going to work them indoors here in a bit also. I like the WBS idea and then spawning to poo.I wonder how half pint wide mouth jars of wbs would do? Most likely colonize quicker.

Maybe we can find out what went wrong, instead of trying different tek's everytime... The more you experiment, the more you fail.

![]() | someone above stating using above 2 inches as a substrate depth with pans, this won't really work, research and ask RogerRabbit, pans like 1 inch for a substrate depth, and just a dusting of casing layer. and Yes, do NOT shake your wbs jars of pan myc. |

![]() | First I do agree with you limeade about the casing layer. I always use just enough to cover the sub. Maybe 1/8th inch or so. Pans are a finicky species, but we have some amazing pan growers around here, that are helping to make a noob have a much better success ratio. All I know is that I am two for two with waylit's pan tek. And that was using store bought Black Kow compost, and I still got two flushes minimum. |
