    Bee pollen

Okay, I found bee pollen pills but they contain a couple other things such as sucrose, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate. Are these okay to use in my cakes or are the other things in there bad? I was thinking maybe the other stuff might be normal?

The pills will work fine I have done a lot BRF jars and LC's with it.

I think the pills are better, due to the fact that I read a report about some
Bee pollen is being sold with contam's in them

So you used some that had the same additives as the ones I mentioned? It's sucrose, silicon doxide, and magnesium stearate. Are you sure, I just don't wanna waist 3 weeks on some dumb shit, ya know? The side of the little bottle does say no artificial colors or flavors, no salt, no chemica, solvent free, preservative free, no starch, no wheat, no lactose, no yeast. Are the ingredients I am worried about just the normal things that would be in bee pollen pills already?

Yep, it works for me. It might not be "better" might want to get some of the elders input on it.

But no issues for me... The MYC in Karo LC loves the shit.
I use very little like the size of a copper BB in the LC

The stuff I got was from Walmart Spring Vally Natura; bee pollen 550mg

How much of it did you use per 100 ml's of karo water? Did you do the reg table spoon of karo per 100 ml's of water? Any other additives?

I do a copper size BB for 2 cups of LC
Pour the Bee pollen in 1st cuz you will have to shake it
out of the pill (one pill will do a few LC's)
Then if you get 2 much in your jar you can still wash it
out with out wasting your distilled water.

1 tsp per 100 ml of distilled water and only adding the Bee pollen.

IMO Tater (potato) water grows the MYC better but after a few contams
    and the prep work.

I just stick with the Karo/water it's fast and easy and just gets the job done!

Yup, same here, I don't have a pc so I don't fuck with the potato water either. Maybe the bee pollen will help take it's place. I made up some lc using the method you described so we'll see how it goes. I also did a few agar plates using un-flavored, unsweetened pectin mixed with some of the lc. I'll let you guys all know if it works, I did it all extremely clean and next to a flow hood. I also used some myc water and multi spore so that will increase the odds of SOMETHING happening.

Did you get the pectin to set right?
I played around with it. Mixing up to 4 tsp's per 1/4 cup water.
But still couldn't get it to setup right.

Let me know how this goes.

This is the one I based mine off of. I forgot who's tek this was...

    You will need :

    - Pressure cooker capable of 15psi
    - Either ½ Pint, Pint or Quart jars
    - 1.5 gallons of distilled water
    - 1 large potato diced into pieces
    - 10 Tablespoons of Light Karo Syrup (the dextrose source)
    - A few coffee filters
    - Several foam ear plugs. (two per lid)
    - Drill with 3/8th bit

Measure out 8 cups of distilled water & set it on the stove to boil.
While the water is heating, dice up one large potato & add that to the water once it starts to boil.
Turn the heat down on the stove and set the lid on your pot & cook the potatoes until they are done.

At this point, discard the potatoes or set them aside to eat later.

This potato water is very nutrient rich and is the base to this liquid culture recipe.

With the coffee filters, filter out 4 cups of potato water and discard the rest.
You may have to filter it a couple times to remove all the particulate matter from the water.

Take the 4 cups of filtered potato water and add 12 cups of distilled water, mix in 10 tablespoons of light karo syrup and mix the solution thoroughly.

Although you can use any size jars I like to use quart jars for liquid cultures.

Add 2 cups of the potato dextrose water to the quart jars, slap on the lids, wrap with foil and pressure cook at 15psi for 30 minutes & let fully cool before removing from the pressure cooker.

    pectin won't work,
it re-liquifies after a few days gelled.

    Thanks Hip,

I had a side question (when you get time) about Agar.
How are some doing the colored Agar like the black Agar?
Are they just adding food coloring?

Yeah, I've had limited luck with it. I actually do have a couple of plates that have stayed solid though and even the ones that turned back to liquid are colonizing very quickly. I guess it's more of an lc in an agar plate!
