Rehydratation of a non-fully colonized cake

My brf cakes are about 90 % colonized, but in the past few days seems to me that the colonization is very slow (or even has stopped). The cakes are in jars (almost pint jars) nearly 2 months now and I think that the water in the cakes has evaporated. Can I rehydrate the cakes with sterile syringe with distilled water?

2 mouths is a big door for contams to jump in.

Turn the jars upside down, this will help displace the CO2 in the jars.

Of course you can try a little sterile water if you would like to experiment a little.

If I were you I would go ahead and make a few more jars, supercake style, with proper moisture content.

Good luck you project

2 months is an awfully long time for cakes.

As Ben said I"d flip em, good luck
