![]() | Ps. subaeruginosa I have obtained a print from Australia and would like to put it to use. I am thinking outdoor bed, but, i think i'm in hardiness zone 8, I know they are in 5, and POSSIBLY 4, but don't know what the highest zone is. Yeah, i'm in 8 for sure: ![]() i've tried advanced search here, on it's hardiness zone, and google searches, and just can't get any info that's usable. I've never even touched this species before. I am a newb to this print. I am assuming alder chips would be best, but preparing the spawn is a question, I am assuming using spore to rye grain would be fine? Any information on getting spawn readied for woodchips for an outdoor bed, depending on where i live i guess if it's possible, would be great. I haven't even found their temperature ranges yet, I'll be searching that info now. Preparing the spawn is my big question, and incubation temp/time to expect. Could I possibly make an LC, and inoculate a sheet of moist partially rotted cardboard, utilizing the cardboard as spawn by placing a thin layer of alder chips on after the cardboard is fully colonized, then when the tendril myc gets to the chips, add more chips, etc.. until a decent bed is estalished. Would that be possible? If i can make an LC, should I dilute MEA into dh2o? or mix my normal karo/malt LC.. I have petri and MEA, that needs used badly. But i don't want to put it to this project if they won't grow in my hardiness zone outdoors. |

![]() | Per this link they aren't listed as growing naturally in Tx http://forums.mycotopia.net/wild-mus...your-area.html (What Psilocybian mushrooms grow in your area?) so i'm guessing they don't survive in hardiness zone 8 now im looking at indoor, and my searches here turn it into not such a possible thing. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Believe their ideal temp range is 30s - 70s as found in southern Australia/New Zealand with a marine climate [humid].. Can proly withstand freezing just fine but the Texas heat could do them in.. Gradual and prolonged cooling temps into the 50s/40s stimulate pinning ,similar to Cyans but they may begin fruiting at a bit higher temp than Cyans.. Perhaps you could keep them indoors till late fall then fruit in a cool unheated garage or similar, unless your in S Tex, then it's proly too warm... |
