    Question Poop

hey guys i was wondering which was best out of cow poo and horse poo. or any animal for that matter.

i can get literally tons of cow poo if i wanted it, i can go out in the field and pick the dried up pattys.

horse poo i can get but i have to drive about 25 miles and im not sure how dry and aged it is etc. i have an unlimited supply of that too but have to drive to get it.

    what are your experiences?

ps i tried searching the vaults but couldnt find a comparism of cowpoo vs horsepoo

Horse manure is the cats pjammas from the barn with permission of course. Bagged cow manure works but often cheaper brands are scrapings of feedlots and looks kinda unlike what you see on a farm. The farm stuff works great.

Sheep works but can be runny when soaked. Goat is excellent. Rabbit ... why not.

pasture cow as your talking about seems to work well. FOAF gets his from grain/graze mix cows and seems to go well.

Don't bother messing with bagged cow poo unless you are a penguin!

The field cured cow poo will doo just fine - make sure you get patties that are almost dry in the middle and the bugs have done their thing.

The stable poo being from dairy or horse will need to be composted - it is HOT shit with all the pee in it!

Ok I have a question about using manure for an outdoor grow..... my soil is very poor consisting of mainly hard clay.

Close by here there are a few places that offer free manure for the taking. one offers corral sheep manure and another offers free horse manure.

If I get manure from both places, is there a set ratio of how much I should mix of each together? and then should I let it "set" out in the sun for a while to age?

I have a nice plot picked out and have been using it regularly as a graveyard for my contaminated substrates, using a shovel to turn over the soil to make it not so compact, then burying the substrates a few inches underground.

It has now attracted some "guests" a few mice that keep on making holes to take the grains, some big black beetles that have taken up residence, and many many ants, some of which have a potent sting.

I am pretty sure they are not fire ants, but are tiny and black. I got stung by one on my finger and my whole hand swelled up.

Now... when I add the manure to my area, which of these little critters might cause problems when fruits start to grow.?
    Thanks
    D.
