Before I knew about Nutritional Yeast, I used regular old bread yeast.
Worked fine. Either way, yeast is going to leave some sediment in your LC- don't let it weird you out. It belongs there.

Thanks for the information. Can one still use it when sterilizing in a pressure cooker? Will it still be effective?

Yes, you want it to be dead in your LC, it's there as food for the mycelium. So cooking it is required if it's a live yeast.

You can use normal bread yeast ? I have some sachets of the stuff, how much water per sachet and how long should it be PC ?

Tried using honey before but it gets very cloudy, maybe yeast is better ...

I've never used yeast by itself, only with dextrose.
But with 2% dextrose, 10 ounces, I use a teaspoon of yeast. Or malt. Or half a teaspoon of each. Again, the yeast is there to provide some food for the myc, it's not doing anything yeasty.

But honeywater is a lot simpler, and shouldn't be cloudy if you do it right. Four grams honey to 100 grams water is the common recipe.

Think I'll pass on yeast then. I decided to go with 1 teaspoon of honey and 400ml water recommended by Irishlion as he has had fantastic results with these measurments but I added the hony to the water and it turned a yellow golded colour is this normal ? It's PC 'ing now for 15 min, is this long enough ?

Don't know about teaspoons, I use grams for honey- but a light golden color is good. 15 minutes at pressure should be fine.

Cool, mine looks a golden colour with the odd spec of material but im guessing its normal for honey or just a little caramalised sugar. Just added 2cm of spore solution to it

Does it have to be kept out of the light ? Dont want it to pin
