I have been wondering if anyone has used lake water or pure natural spring water for making LC's. I have been thinking about this for a while now. I have used the karo tek with distilled water and I have also used honey/ karo with distilled water and the potato water and karo tek. And the mycelium growing in the jars appered to have a gray/ dark tint to them. I also tested my spore suppy soulition to make sure they were not contamed and they werent. I also knocked up 5 jars 3 from my dark looking syriginges but they dont appear to be contaminated yet. At the some tme I knocked up a jar with spores and they appear to be growing a lot faster than the jars knocked up with spores. Since I took this hobby up a few years ago I have never lost a single jar to grain to contams (knock on wood). Since I started to make my on syringes from prints. Any info would be greatly appreciated peace dragon |

Not sure on the lake water.I think that is what hip uses in his supercake formula but not sure if it would be good for a lc.However the spring water is what I use.I get the gallon jugs from the grocery store and use them from making my cakes to making Liquid cultures and even hydrating my double end casings.Yeah I've had some amazing results as far as keeping contams away myself.As far as making syringes and prints is a different story though.I've only tried like 2 or 3 times and has been a bust everytime.But with everything else has been great.I'm starting to wonder if I've got some type of contam that's floating around eating all the others off and looks like mycelium lol.No seriously though I think it has a lot to do with what area you live in.
