help with bulk substrates

I was wondering if it is necessary to humidify a bulk substrate tub, or can you just not worry about it. I live in an area where RH almost never gets below 60 but usually stays in the 70 range. I would really like to try a bulk substrate grow i just don't want to get all to complicated with humidifiers and hoses just yet. Thanks guys.

Yes you have to keep the humidity of your bulk sub at least 90% to make the sub start pinning. You can do this by using perlite or make a tit or what I do make a monotub they pretty much keep the humidity high by there self.

So I could put the substrate in the tub and it will be alright without running a humidifier to it? If so then this is the way I will go. I'm thinking that I will need to at tape over some of the holes and just fan it a few times a day, to help conserve moisture. Thanks for the help, and any other bits of knowledge is greatly appreciated.

When using a dub tub or mono tub set up I fill the entire bottom with the spawned bulk sub. When doin it this way you do not need a humidity source. The sub itself is the source of humidiy.

If you use a small tub inside a larger one and the bulk sub does not fill the larger tub adequately then another huidity source will need to be used.
