![]() | Quick question on my drying setup
I'm planning on putting the shrooms on a towel across a cardboard box, as suggested here in the archives http://archives.mycotopia.net/discus...tml?1071025361 . I'm confused though as to whether I put the fan inside the box or directly on top of the shrooms/towel? Besides that, I only have maybe 7-10 grams fresh to dry, what would you guys recommend for time being fanned and then kept in the dessicator for?

A FOAF just picks mushrooms and place them on a sheet of paper. Then he places that piece of paper in a cardboard box next to the fan inside. Then when they are "dry" he places them in a drying chamber that has DampRid in the lower container till they are "cracker" dry. As for times I think it matters where you live

This is what we did. We took a plastic tub, some duct tape, a computer fan, and a 12 volt plug adapter: Cut a whole in the tub to fit the fan Duct taped in in the tub Wired the fan to the adapter Plugged it in and Voila! A drying chamber. We just layer the mushrooms on paper towels until they are dry. We used to put the mushrooms out of the drying chamber into another desiccant chamber, but our mushrooms have been getting cracker dry in the drying chamber. |

For a small amount like that I would not worry too much about details. Just stick em on a newspaper in open air with a little air circulating across them...small fan or a ceiling fan. They will dry enough unless your local rH is just sky high. Use dissicant after that if you feel u need to then store in freezer.

When I dry my edibles, I go to any of the "Marts" and buy the really cheap furnace filters (usually get 3 for $2+). I lay the mushrooms out on one filter, snuggly put another filter over it (so they are lying the same way they are packaged) and then strap both filters to the front of a box fan with a few bungie cords. Start the fan, and they're dry in no time!!!
