![]() | What do you think of my Fruit Chamber and Incubator?!?!?
So I just made these up- NEED FEEDBACK First is my fruiting chamber, insulated and a aquarium heater, will it be too humid? Second is incubator, a styrofoam cooler and a heat bomb? Think it will do the job? ![]() |

An aquarium air pump will do a decent job of pumping in fresh air. An old blanket would be less irritating to the skin then the fiberglass Just keep an eye on your temps and adjust the heaters accordinglyIt won't be too humid for cakes. Throw some salt in the water in the FC if you have not to prevent slim from growing |

Nice work on the fruiting chamber and heat bomb! I agree a bunch of blankets would be a lot less irritating on the skin, at least on top. I worked in construction for a few years, and those glass fibers get into everything eventually. It looks like you did a really nice job wrapping that insulation around the tub; very nice and something I'd never thought of doing. I personally just liked wrapping the tubs up in blankets for stealth reasons, as it just looked like I was living a disheveled lifestyle with big old blankets everywhere. But whatever works to get those tubs to the right temp... way to think outside the box, literally! Not sure how big you plan on going with things, but have you thought about getting a larger incubation chamber? It just looks like things might get cramped really fast with that large Gatorade bottle bomb in there. The heat bomb looks well made, kudos! If you're only gonna do a few jars at a time, the Styrofoam container should work great. Strofoam is obviously a great insulater. I'd second the aquarium pump to pump fresh air in. They do the job and are cheap.

Yea, but i think something may be wrong with the heater for that, left it run all night and got no heat from it but I have another that I'll see if it works, only thinkin a few jars at a time and I wasnt irratated with the fiberglass at all, o well, getting the jars ready tonight, cant wait! and I'll get that air pump today too!

please let me know how those work out because I pretty much have the same set up going. Except the insulation. I fell into a dumpster full of it one day at work. Pure HELL.

when you use the heat bomb (aqurm heater in water bottle) make sure you have air circ. because the jars closest to the bottle will get way hot and the ones in the back row wont get hot enough. i had only one side of jars colonize once because they were facing the heater. so i hard wired a computer fan and put it inbetween the heater and the jars blowwing towards the jars and the temp evened out throughout the tub. also make sure you move your thermometer around every once in a while to make sure the temp is even throughout the tub. good luck!
