![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | sending spore syringes in cold weather?
Does anybody know what the best method is for sending spore syringes in the cold cold weather? Can it be done w/o too many problems? If I wrap them in news paper? I saw that T.G.S would only ship throu the first part of the week so it can be done and the spores won't die from being too cold will they?

While it appears that spores in the wild seem to make it through the winter, I would imagine that a hydrated spore could have its cell walls ruptured if frozen solid... I know that a hydrated mushroom frozen, when thawed is a gooey mess... I do believe if you do some searching, I recollect some posts concerning this. You might be able to find those.

Hi all: There's no problem if the syringe didn't broke, I had a frozen syringe last year, so I let defrost at room temperature and it works for me, but you can try it, and then let us know what happened. Mojox

You should have no problems...but if for some unknown reason they do not germinate...I am quite sure that T.G.S might help you out and offer a replacement. I will argee with whoever posted, that spore prints would be your best bet. Especially for Cubies...as there are quite resilient...in my experience...from 19 years of cultivating fungi. I am in no way stating any facts...just my experience...personally. Johnny Myco |
