I see some scratch the surface with a fork or the like to roughen the surface up. Do cakes like this need that? Its been a week today and no signs of life. Am I impatient?

Yes, you're impatient...

Need some new pics, but you've got a DEC casing going there and what looks like Perlite for humidity.

Spray the f**k out of that top casing and get the humidity up in there and you'll see some good results!

i take it that green tray goes into that larger clear tub underneath it? what are you doing for air exchange? are there holes in the tub? Polyfill? Or are you just fanning regularly?

Heres a couple more pics.

Only real update is for the 2nd pic with the addition of 2 full cakes. They were about 1 1/2 weeks behind the first 2 cakes. I wanted to do 2 cakes that were sliced, 2 cakes that were full cakes, and 2 cakes that I crumbled. the last 2 cakes are about week or so away also from full colonization.

BMAD - I was reading in the vaults/archives and saw a couple threads about slicing the cakes. Discs/flat cakes or something like that. There was some interest that the sliced cakes had more surface area for pin's to grow
more. I could not really find much conclusive evidence. What it seemed to do however is to get the same amount in a couple flushes as opposed to more flushes. I really like the git-er-in, git-er-done, and git-er-out thought process here.

tr3eman9 - the green tray was setting on a box in the first picture post. It is actually part of a "BioDome" from Park Seed Company. the 1st picture in this post is the full set up. A green tray has perlite in it. I mist it daily. It has a couple holes at the top that allow to increase or decrease the humidity by sliding them open or closed. I have been opening the top a couple times a day just incase there is not enough fresh air exchanging.

So here are 2 pics.
The first pic is what 5 of the cakes look like. The little white spots on this pic is only the verm layer reflecting the flash off my BB Storm.
The 2nd pic is my 6th cake that I wonder if it is showing signs of life or could this be something like cobweb mold?

Still wondering if your rH is where it needs to be? Your terrarium should be around 95-100% humidity to initiate cubensis pinning, ime this means the sides and top of the terrarium are covered with beads of water. If your box isn't dripping yet

I'd recommend you mist the sides of your enclosure as well as the perlite several times a day until it is.

Mesto - 3 times morning/after work/before bed.

Shroom - dont have something to measure humidity yet but there are def beads of water on the walls and lid. I moved from the small one I had them in to a larger tub so I could get more perlite down. I drilled holes ala sandman but ended up with 4 holes on each side not 2. I mist the sides each time I open and fan. So its no river on the walls but there is beads hanging out.

Ya saw about 3 more around the same cake on the other side just now and there is this wired cluster of like 8-10 all close together like... looks like the gential warts pic I saw in a medical class I took....kinda freaking me out

Went outta town for the weekend and thought id throw a couple pics up
Ambient temp is 68 to 70 have not checked the tub they are now in.
I have a seed heating mat with temp control if I need to up the temp a bit. During colonization the jars were held pretty consistently at 80 and flipped at about 80 to 90 %
But from the looks of the pics below they seem to be doing ok.now
All of the cakes but 1 are pinning, and that bottom one in the middle just looks like its waiting a little longer.
From reading over the PF tek again, I think why they are a little slow is that I made the mistake of packing the jars pretty tight and it caused the surface of the cakes to have overlay. But thats my noobie opinion no experience to back it up.
