![]() | fruiting chamber question
the more i think on it i probably shouldnt colonize and fruit in the same box.... im just throwing a fruiting chamber together real quick ... i got a 66qt(large) clear rubbermade tub ... im going to put a 1in or maybe a little thicker layer of perlite on the bottom and i got a drip shield made onto the lid. heres my questions : should i add any peroxide to the perlite (how much)? will i have enough humidity with only the perlite ?? ... i have a double air bubbler that i can hook two bubble stones up to ... should i use the stones ??? |

You can add a few drops of peroxide to the perlite if you like,it will help to keep things nice and clean. Not too much just a few drops.Nice moist perlite is just fine alone, especially with the bubblers.I would still recommend misting the sides of the fruiting chamber at the very least. If you have an ultrasonic humidifier run it for a few mins every couple of hours.,If not no big deal.

If you keep standing water then i suggest bleach instead of peroxide. (Explanation here: http://forums.mycotopia.net/exotic-m...tml#post472234 ) 1 or 2% bleach water is my choice these days. Just keep your cakes off the perlite. Use some foil or watever, just dont let them sit directly on the perlite. If you cant or dont want to fan, bubblers will be ok, but a few holes on the top and bottom of the tub will take care of the FAE issues, most of the time. You could also try this: http://forums.mycotopia.net/exotic-m...tml#post472234 Im working on one right now. Hope it helps. JoY! |
