![]() | Palanque a new adventure ~!!
Well where to begin , I started my Palanque yesterday in a rye bag from Non-sponsor. Last time I was growing was 4 yrs ago . So I am not completely new to this . I will take pics along the way and would like to share witht the world. one question i have is and I hope someone can help, when the bag is fully colonized can I take out of bag and lay a layer in my monotub? no casting just broken up colonized rye grain ? I know I can grow in the bag but I am thinking more surface area more mushrooms right? anyway please help . and how thick does the layer at the bottom of the tub be? I will be using a black contractors bag as a liner . thanks

Welcome! Umm, pasteurize some substrate and mix that with your broken up spawn in a big ziplock. Add to monotub via one of the tek's from the VAULT. Keep good and sterile and fan or get some good FAE. Add light after full colonization. You can case or not if you want to! Good luck and pic's help!

here are the pix I am using a substrate mix I found on here Today I am pasteurizing 1 block of coconut fiber (bed a beast coir) 2lbs of wigglyworm organic worm castings , 3 quarts of vermiculite , quarter cup of calcium carbnate (reptile sand) 1 cup of Karo , 1 cup of Malt concentrate. All o tis is added to a bucket, and mixed with 8 gallons of boiling hot water, within an hour it reaches about 170 and holds there long enough, i've used this method many, many, many times with success. so here are pix of what I bought today to make things happy |

I dont fully understand your question. Are you asking if it is ok to do a TiT for a fruiting chamber? If that is the question then yes. It may however make the RH shoot up too high. Fanning will take care of this. However if you are using the TiT to incubate you may want to drop temps a bit in order to fruit if you use the same TiT. If your house isnt too cold you could just do a mono tub with perlite and fan it a few times a day. That way you can keep jars colonizing in the incubator and also have some fruiting in your terreruim. Kinda like a never ending cycle of life.

here is where I am right now , tit setup temp. is now at 80 . 3lb rye bag is starting to show first signs of colonization I did drop the temp. first question does it need total darkness in order to colonize the rye? next question I am planing on using the substrate recipe I spoke about in my post for volume to make the 3lb bag cover the bottom of the tub . When the rye bag is 100% colonized I will break it apart in another clean bag with the substrate then place on the bottom of tub , is this right? also if I do a tit to fruit do I need holes with filling to trans. air? or can it stay completely sealed. I do thank you in advance as the time is coming soon and dont want to mess up

I stumbled upon this thread and was very impressed with the whole process. I'd say go with some polyfill in some holes(4) and fan as needed from there. Dont wanna make the holes too big of course then you get the issue of not enough humidity. Just fan as needed. Your rye bag should be fine. If it gets some light it'll be fine. They like the dark but enjoy the light. It promotes pinning anyways. Some give it light from day one some wait til the last day. All depends on your intentions. Everything else sounds theoretically fine. EYA has had some major grows in the past. Much surpassing anything i have accomplished in this hobby, therefore, the above link.

Can take up to 14 days to see growth bro especially if you shot the spores into the center as the mycelium will grow from inside out, also, alot of factors play into the germination, like spore age and whether or not the spores were hydrated or not, Temp also plays a big roll and whether or not there are bacteria present. Alot of things can effect germination time so at 5 days for rye bags, I would say they are more than likely growing inside, 3 to 7 days is pretty normal, so no worries yet unless you smell sweet or sour smells coming from the bags or some sort of iky looking substance forming something like that.

![]() | when to dry substrate?
Hello all, I just cooked up this recipe I found on a post by limeade -- http://forums.mycotopia.net/grow-cha...e-monotub.html (41 gallon Palenque monotub!) - I am pasteurizing 1 block of coconut fiber (bed a beast coir) 2lbs of wigglyworm organic worm castings , 3 quarts of vermiculite , quarter cup of calcium carbnate (reptile sand) 1 cup of Karo , 1 cup of Malt concentrate. All o tis is added to a bucket, and mixed with 8 gallons of boiling hot water, within an hour it reaches about 170 and holds there long enough well I have finished cookin aind drained excess water but now I wonder do I let it dry? or can I bag it up now ? and how long do I have to wait to inject spore what temp is ok?

Once you bring it to field capacity, then you can load it in your bags and pasteurize it. Once it's pasteurized and cooled, then you can spawn your rye bags to it.

mermaidia thanks I was waiting for a reply since yesterday , good thing to I thought that since I used boiling water to hydrate recipe that I did not need to pasteurize . I almost stated to make the bags . now should my substrate be dry? right now it has still has some water in it if you grab a hand full and ball it up water will come out , this is my first time making sub so any advice would be helpful I have been reading all the tek's on here but being overwhelmed with info is crazy as soon as I see one I want to do I find another that might be better so this post is what I have come up with but thanks man learning so much

No, you don't want it dry. You want it field capacity. <~~~~~~~Click the yellow words. Basically when you pick it up and squeeze it only a few drops of moisture should come out. It's shouldn't run out.

something tells me that adding Karo to a spawn can only end in bad things, hence why we don't use lcs to knock up subs but, spawn first then to sub, perhaps it worked for him but, I don't think its a good idea, semes to me that it would invite bacteria contamns,
