![]() | Kits...do they work?
I am new to teh cultivation world and am contemplating a method to use. I watched that 1hr google vid that show the tek method. Being a newbie i know sterilization and temp control will be a challenge. I don't mind paying extra $$$ for a little security in knowing i have a better chance of growing. I have looked at th mycodome 2, the MYG(? sp) and otehr methods. I know those don't advertise here so maybe it's a no-no...new here. Anyway, any info on how to best cultivat is much appreciated. I know kit get bad raps cause they take ome of the fun out of it, but right now all i'm concerned about is getting a crop. I will worry about decinstructing the process later. thanks for any help. |

Welcome to Mycotopia. The PF Tek really IS the best way to start IMO. Spend a little on a second-hand pressure cooker and some jars and you're 80% of the way there. You can fruit invitro (see Teks here) and have very little to worry about.

If you don't want to spend the cash on a "kit" and were really concerned about contam's. You could order jars of pre-sterilized PF cakes from hippie and order a syringe from elsewhere. Then follow the various invitro tek's. This is just another option for you. |

We were all noobs at one time...start with the PF tek and follow it to the letter!! and you will have success. I was just like you when I started, overwhelmed with information and unsure of myself....just jump right in there and start PC'ing some jars or grab a couple from Hip and you pretty much done....maybe even grab a glovebox or make one out of carbboard or an old tub....you would be surprised how much a GB will help!!!! It help me beat a contam that I had somewhere in my house....fuck you brown mold!! haha |

do the vendor-sold grow bags work? Like Tango says, i'm overwhelmed. I actually have some spores on order. Should B here soon. Does the spore type dictate the substrate/myc grow method? I am thinking of just rolling with two methods at once and seeing which one works. |

IMHO I personally went straight to WBS spawn to bulk sub 50/50 straw donkey doo but that was after a year and a half of studying and a few failed attempts at it to get it right but i like it that way gives me a little challenge cause thats why i like this hobby it challenges you i try and do alot myself without asking to many question. And for that i get more failed attempts but i learn from that so all in all.. Try what you want experament and be safe... Read alot..... Last edited by JR4; 04-01-09 at 22:36. Reason: Adding too | |

As long as you ordered Cubes, PF tek should work fine. I would start with that and not look into WBS at this point. Invitro is a nice way to fruit and much easier than using a FC imo. Yields are great too. G'luck

![]() | hippie kits
After browsing this thread I went to the Mycrotopia site and I couldn't find any kits, only spores. Did I miss something? I've been considering growing my own shrooms for a couple years, and now I've made up my mind to do it. The problem for newbies is there are so many different kits and "teks" out there, it's hard to decide where to start! My sister and her hubby grew them for years in Orange County and Santa Cruz, but I was more interested in eating them back then than I was in the growing process. I could kick myself now for not getting involved. They grew the best shrooms ever! But they split up several years ago and my sister dropped the shroom thing and focused on plants. I asked her about the shroom process a few years ago and she sent me a 30 year old book on how to cultivate them. I don't even know where that book is now, but it did things the hard way and I can see that the teks have improved over the years. The Mycodome 3.0 from ******* has been at the top of my list, but after finding this site and reading some of the posts I'm thinking of trying the PF Tek. I feel sure I'll find lots of tips and support here when I run into problems. Is this a good call? PF Tek? Love & Peace |
