![]() | to dunk or not to dunk, to case or not to case
i have 5 jars each of T.C., G.T., B+, and Cambodians they have been fully colonized in brf cakes for 1 week now. have been exposing them to light a little each day,to encourage pinning. have yet to see any pins and am wondering if i should birth and dunk them ? dunk and roll ,birth them only, or just be more patient ? i am also going to try placing some of my fully colonized wheat berry jars directly into the FC with the lids off, to grow them right out of the top of the jars... should i case them ? suggestions ? there are some i would like to try invitro, they are ready to go into the FC now, they are on w. berries too. should i case these ? or just leave the lids closed and let them go ? thanks for all your patience people you are a wealth of knowledge and you're much appreciated |

I would use that rye as spawn to a bulk sub but if you are set on fruiting from the jar then you will want to case it..rye berries don't really have enough water retention and the fruits will most likely not get very big due to not enough water.

any suggestions pertaining to the other questions ? i am using the rye as spawn, i was hoping on finding the substrate that would work best for me. i have a h.poo,verm. and straw mix. others that are soil/ verm and another that is verm/h.poo. planning on spreading the spawn, incubating a few days, casing with verm./ p.moss, and fruiting. this is a first bulk grow attempt,obviously.. have plenty of colonized spawn to work with. i got a little carried away, initially.... have a friend that turned me onto 50lbs. of the w. berries. thanks for your input, oibchip ! |

Hey GodsFlesh, From now on lets communicate through this message board. I have had some problems with using the PM abilities. I will try to answer your PM'ed questions here. First of all, have you had success with the regular PF style fruiting projects? It sounds like you might be trying to do too many different projects at once. Personally I would take your jars with the rye berries and knock up the pasturized substrate that you mentioned via my PM. Are you also doing jars PF style? If these are fully colonized you could DEC them and put them in your fruiting chamber. Use vermiculite to case them. This is not a bulk tub style grow. If you pasturized your substrate a couple days ago and you have kept it in a sterile environment you should be good to go with that. IME, pasurized materials last about 2-3 days before I would repastuirze it. I would take a mono-tub and sterilize it. I like to use large tin foil pans inside the tubs to help keep your substrate from sitting in water that condenses on the sides and drips down. Use a ratio of AT LEAST 30% spawn to 70% pasturized substrate. Mix it up evenly. Let it set with aluminum foil over the top for 3-5 days until it is fully colonized. Then put in your fruiting chamber and introduce your FAE and your light. Pins should appear with in 10-14 days. This would be without casing. Fan the tub on average of 3-4 per 24 hour period and you should be good to go. They only need a few minutes of light each day to let them know that its time to fruit and help give them direction in which way to grow...upwards. Let me know if you have any more questions here and I would be GLAD to continue to help you along your way to a bontiful harvest. Best of luck and Good Vibes your way. ![]() GT |

If you put your cakes in your FC a couple days ago, the white fuzz is usually a normal sign, unless it's cobweb. This is probably rhyzomorphic mycelium. It is the precursor to hyphal knotting, which in turn leads to Pins. Is there any way you can post pictures for us to see? Other forum members could also probably tell you if your cakes look healthy. My motto is, "If in doubt post a picture " Someone on the forum will know what's going on. The more Heads the better. If your cakes are healthy and not pulling away from the edges of your jars, I would just DEC them and put them in your FC. I would dunk them after your first flush for 12 or so hours to rejuvenate the mycelium for further flushes. Be PATIENT with them. It will take 7-10 days before you see any pins. Don't rush it, you will just fuck shit up. In regards to your Eureka Springs comments... I live on the Moon. Which is about 3 or 4 hours from there. That is a really fun town. Lot's and lot's of Heads up in the Ozarks. Nice ass people. That video was cool as hell. If you have more questions let us know and we will try to help you out. ![]() GT

Hey brotha, Congrats on your healthy birthing cakes. I get my WBS at Kroger. 20lbs for $6. I've also gotten it at albertsons and walmart. You want the WBS that only has millo, millet, and sunflower seeds. I take the seeds and remove the sunflower seeds in a pot of water b/c they float. Then I simmer the seeds on the stove for about 30 minutes. I look for the larger millet seeds to start splitting open due to them absorbing moisture. Once about HALF of them are split they are done. Then I rinse them with cool water and put it in a strainer. I leave them in the strainer for about a half hour to let the excess moisture drain out. Then put in your jars, put aluminum foil over them, and pressure cook at 15psi for about 90 minutes. Remove and let cool over night. Then innoculate with your spore syringe, LC, agar, or G2G transfer. They all work. Wheat berries work but I find you get more innoculation points with the WBS and I get less contam. Congrats on your hyphal knotting!!! Shrooms are on the way!!! Keep the questions coming.... ![]() Soon you will be pulling 2-3 ounce flushes..... ![]() Peace and Love, GT
