2 strains in one bag?

what would happen if i had a bag inoculated with one strain (say GT) and inoculated it with another strain (say Z-strain or KSSS) before the myc starts colonizing? would i create some hybrids or just have both types when it fruits? anyone done a multi strain bag before?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe either the dominant of the strains would take over the other, or you would just get two different types of fruits on the same substrate.

Unless you inoculated a bag and did one strain on each side,if it colonized with one on each side and met in the middle,then you fruited it.Ya you would get two strains fruiting.But if the spores mixed,and germinated,I think then they compete.I think even where they met up would be a battle for food?

Yep most of the time, they are gonna compete for the food and have a battle of sorts, now sometimes you will get two strains to fruit in the same sub like Dr H said but, the fruits will be more than likely small and really not worth much.

Normally though they will fight and the most aggressive one will win and with 2 strains fighting for the sub they will take along time to colonize and perhaps up your chances of getting a contamn.

the bag i have is noc'ed with gt right now but i also have Z-strain, KSSS, gold coast, stropharia cubensis, cambo, hawaiian, and P. cyansenscens (im saving that for a outdoor bed next year) prints. it would be interesting to see about starting from agar. seeing as when the spore germs that myc wont produce fruit forming rizo myc till it meets myc from another spore. if i were to isolate a single spore of each strain in a drop of sterile water and put that on agar it might produce a hybrid. and since no myc has formed in my bag yet and its been 5 days at around 75-78*. mabey bad or dormant spores. i dont think it would hurt to noc it up again with a different strain i just cant choose which one. would x-rays kill spores seeing as most every peice of mail is x-rayed these days.

i have access to a decent microscope and a FOAF that can get super small needles (much smaller diam. than insulin needles) i might be able to make a weak spore solution and suck up a single spore. and in turn noc up several agar plates and see what happens.

It can take up to 14 days sometimes to see germination bro, so be patient man, give them 2 weeks and if nothing then maybe hit them up again, thats why I perfer LC, atleast I know for sure something is gonna happen LOL

And your question about x rays spores, although I am not 100% certain that is wouldn't make them sterile, I would think that since gamma (x rays) doesn't hurt us I would think it wouldnt hurt the spores although that is a really good question, Perhaps one of our mycologits can better answer that ? Or perhaps hip knows for sure as I know that dude has diffently been around the block a coulpe times LOL.

Man Diffently the KSSS, gotta love those Thai strains man, they are aggressive and Potent as hell for a cubie

ok so ill let it go to next monday (20th) till i do anything. it was noc'ed on this past monday. the gt syringe was from sporeworks so i am fairly sure it was good. the 3lb bag was noc'ed with all 10cc's.

i might also get another couple of bags and just noc those up i could do a split monotub seperating the spawn/bulksub with foil and ger gt on one side and another strain on the other. i dont have access to a pressure cooker so it would be hard to do a LC or make a syringe from a foil print. i dunno about ordering syringes at the same time kinda parinoid about shit getting tracked. if i order a psliocybe syringe and a sterile bag isnt somebody gonna know im planing on growing the psilocybe? last time i placed 2 seperate orders and payed extra on 2 day shipping.

i was just looking at some threads and i think it might be easier for me to do the sandbag tek. i have some of the same vaccume bags seymorebunz had for his grow. i might pick up more Hpoo this weekend i would love to get several dry oz rather than several dry grams from a small monotub. it wouldnt be as stealth though. could cotton be used (prob not) instead of polyfill?

I'm fairly certain if you take two strains and put them on two sections of a single agar they will cross over in the middle and that will be a hybrid of the two.

But this question is about bags so I guess that is inapplicable here.
