35 brf cakes!

Hello shroom and shroomettes! Its been awhile, I'm back and in charge! I have 35 jars goin right now ands there lookin good! I'm gana post some pics tomorrow of them but I just wanted to say.... iiimmmmm baaaaaccckk! Lol!

For those who dont know smurfette is my wife. I just want to say she did this one all on her own. I just made the syringes. Most of the jars are pesa (a print I got from mydarling). 2 jars of Eq and some jars of nepal chitwans (prints I took from prev grows). Smurfette did everything herself and so far things look great. Btw mydarling the prints you sent from your pesa grow were clean, thanks MD.

Sorry it took so long to post some pics of the of the jars but I had to work these past 2 days. Most of the jars are pesa, a few are nepal chitwans and 2 jars are EQ. Heres the pics. The jars are about 1/2 done yeehaww!!!

pesa is a very rhizomorphic strain, quite beautiful to watch it colonize a substrate. i'll be watching this thread, can't wait to see some fruits

Update. 1/2 of the jars are done. Some of the jars are lagin behind the rest, but Id say about 5 more days and they should be done! I was going to brith these as cakes but Ive decided to do a tub. Im going to break up the cakes and spawn to staw and worm casings. My husband told me to do cakes because he said Im still a newbie. I told him I want to go strong just like him and do a mono tub. So here we goooooo!

well if your still a 'newbie' dont put all your eggs in one basket , do a couple small tubs in case one goes bad

As you know my hubby is mushhut. i told him that i wanted to do this all on my own, but he wanted to help me a lil. so i suggested a tub like he does and asked him to help me out alil bit. mushhut "my hubby" does very well with tubs and i think it will turn out very well. i was gana do cakes but i have my loveys help

Getting ready to spawn to bulk. We both work a lot and need to find some time to be together. Id do this myself but this grow is all hers and Im not steping on any toes. Btw I just threw out another jar (eq). Only 1 eq jar left. Also 1 nepal chitwan jar that dont look good. So all in all total 3 jars went bad. So far 22 jars of pesa are ready to go.

I'm with you there smurfette all the way. I was a noob and now I'm gonna go bulk myself thanks to the help from the community and my old man irishlion. I have confidence just like you and some of the other women here on topia. Sounds great!

Smurfette...ette, right? Or is it only the hubby that calls you that? I'm new here and rather blown away by all the skillful growers. I've only got three grows under my belt...BRF cakes with Brazilian. That strain has fruited OK for me, but in the jars, it doesn't show the Rhizo growth that your Pesa jars did. Those were most impressive. Sorry you lost a few to contamination...but you have plenty left.

Looking forward to seeing your transition from cakes to tub. That's probably going to be my next grow so I'm at the edge of my seat! Nicely done...

So I got the shit started today... literaly! Out of the 21 pesa cake that were done I put 13 of them in this bulk tub. The other 8 are in fridge dunking now and will birth like regular pf tek with dec. This was a lot of work! Im very excited about getting this done and cant wait to see my first pinners. When I see my first pins Ill post some more pics.
As for the tub prep. I used pasturized hpoo and straw and spawn was brf. 13 brf cakes were broken up and layered inbetween straw/hpoo mix.
My hubby mushhut also started 2 tubs today as well same mix except his spawn was colonized rye. He did 2 differant strains. Well here are some pics of the process and 2 pics of a very rizo cake before crumbling.

This was a nice grow for me beacuse I got to just sit back, take pics and let sombody else do all the work. Lol. I got to repost that last pic that didnt show up. There were a lot more jars that looked like this but I only had time to only snap 2pics because the wife was saying "hurry up i just want to get this done". She now sees how much work goes into growing these guyes.

That looked like a bit of work. So you just crumbled the cakes? I heard that a cheese grater gets them broken up too.

I'm confused about that mycelium shot in the jar...there wasn't any dry perlite on top. Is that the way you do cakes? And why, If I may ask? Just trying to learn.

Yea, there is no need for dry verm layer with the way my hubby makes the jar lids. sylicone injection ports and tyvek syliconed (2 layers thick) to the top. The tyvek we use is house wrap. Never any need for a dry layer of verm. Heres some pics of the jar lids.

OK, ette, I understand now. Just never seen cakes done that way. Though I have heard of people using cakes with no dry perlite for making isolates. Just drop a chunk of sroom on top of the cake and let it grow.

So you can also use the same lids for liquid culture too I'd assume. I'll have to look into that because my first LC attempt grew out a whole bunch of dark little floaters...had to trash it. Thanks for the info and best wishes on your bulk.

Yes these lids are perfect for everything, even LC. After a 7 or so uses they will rust but rust never hurt mycelium or LC. I havent had to toss a lid yet. They may take a lil more time to make but its worth it. The jar lids was not my idea. Credit goes to hip and other members here on topia. Thanks for the best jar lid tek topia.

Heres some more pics. I dont know how eats gets his tubs colonized in 3days??? This is day 3 and now the mycelium is just poking through. As you can see the rizo growth is coming through even after the cakes are broken up into bulk. The uncased cakes in the pics will get a dec 2mow. We just ran out of verm. There is still about 10 cakes in the incubator just laging behind.
