Has anyone ever used the kind of green moss you find growing on rocks, trees,or even on the ground to substitute,, say, peat or spagnum moss? The reason I ask is because theres plenty in my back yard and it seems to me to be not much differant in consistancy.I've got my bag of verm,h-poo,&straw but was wondering if this might be a viable substitute for one or more of them?Just thinking of trying something differant.Any feedback will be appreciated.PEACE

sure. the ground moss works fine. just make sure it's dry and begining to loose some or most of the green color. lime or calcium as golly said. i get this stuff in my outdoor beds all the time and mushies seem to like it if isn't too fresh.
