Smoking mushrooms (in a BBQ) as a way to dry

So, I had a thought yesterday while smoking some baby back ribs in my smoker. I have two different chambers for smoking food and one of them is for the BBQ, and the other is for smoking. The smoking chamber stays at a constant 95-100 degrees and it got me wondering, could I smoke my mushrooms and dry them at the same time?

Just a thought, im not sure if that temperature would harm the potency in any way, but it might also take the mushie flavor away (for those people who dont like it).

I couldnt find any other previous post so maybe this could be a first! Let me know what you think

That may not be the best idea to dry them..heat degrades psilocybin. And i'm pretty sure the method you would use has heat involved..usually you want the least amount of heat possible. Even sun drying mushrooms can cause loss of potency from the heat and other things.

is there any proof on this. i mean at room temp they dry at say 75 and in some parts of the world im sure it could be close to 90 in the summer.

95 to 100 aint that bad. i had problems in the past with mushrooms taking up to 4 days to dry with just a fan on them...it seemed to blow cold air on them. i put a heater in the closet and raised the temp to the high 80's to aid the fan and drying time is down to 1 day. potency has rocked since i started drying them quicker. i felt if they are drying too long they lose potency.

so is there any proof heat destroys the magic. i think oxidation may be a bigger concern with a fan blowing on them for days. also i wouldnt heat much above a 100. but arent there ppl who dry them in an oven?

Try it with a few and tell us. If you really can keep your temps around 95, you may pull it off as an awesome mushroom snack. Have you thought of seasoning them?

I have had good success drying mushrooms in the refrigerator in a brown paper bag. The bag will pull all the moisture out of the mushroom. And no loss at all of potency!!

for sure, ya ill do it and let you guys know how it works out...i dont think a temp of that much should damage the potency too much. I just wonder how long it would take to actually dry them.

I have mesquite, but i could put some other season on them!!...this brings up a whole new set of questions!

if it truely stays at 95-100 then it is perfect and will not take any noticeable magic out. I used a space heater to keep the fans airflow at about 100-110 with my homemade dehydrator setup.

I would figure 12-24 hours for the dry.

I bet they will taste good as fuck too.

Haha give them a good soak in some marinade, then smoke em dry!

My climate ranges up into the 100's and I notice no loss of potency as far
as dried specimens.
