OK, so my neighbor needed to pasture his horse in my yard for a few days, so suddenly I got horse manure! I was looking for an exact process for making it usable in my first bulk container. What exactly do I add to it? What is a buffer? I have coc coir chunks and am going to get some castings also for my mix. Any information is much appreciated

U will need to dry it first, on a tarp or something in the sun, turning it every so often, once it is complely dry then you can use it. Or if you can find any already dried with firefang on it, then that is Pro.

I'd recommend drying it out completely in the full sun on a tarp. Flip it for even drying. This does a few things including setting back or killing contams and competitors on-board , also allows you to store the dookie indefinitely. When your ready to use it I find it handy to rub the horse-poop balls over a metal lath screen (or similar) to break it up. It feathers up very nicely. Breaking up very dried horse poop balls by hand is a PITA . Good score !

Thank you guys for the quick replies. I will get some spread out and drying. By the time I am ready to do a bulk tub, the manure should be nice and dry. I got five jars with mycellium growing in them now, so hopefully it will all come together this time. |

Run your dried horse turds through the leaf blower/vac/mulcher Takes about 10 minutes to completely process a 30 gal. trash can full of them and the texture is great. Wear a dust mask!
