![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | sclerota clone from dry tissue Swims just got 4 grams dry of philosophers stones through the post and he wants to know weather he can clone these bad boys to make more of them. He recently cloned some shiitake and a shop bought oyster strain uknown with great results only needed one transfer and there about ready for the lc. But he knows that it will be much harder to get a clean specimen of sclerota as they are nearly rock solid when dry and this means more fiddling time to try and get into them. So iv’e come up with a few possible solutions for him hit it with a hammer first to soften it up a bit hydrate it in peroxide then clone as normal. Swim will try both and see how it goes Any and all advice is appreciated ( |= 0

should work, provided the stones are not completely dry. the material in the center may still have some viable cells. trick is whats the middle after it's smashed lol. you may want to use something like a screw driver to split it rather than smash it all together. good luck and keep us posted!

well its day three now and no contaminants. peroxide realy works. i decided to brake a small one into three and make them my subjects as the hammer thing sounded messy. one was simply peroxidated and then transferred over to ma. the second was hydrated in sterile water for twentyfour hours then peroxidated before transfer. and the last was bleached bathed in 1/200 percent bleach water and transferred ive never heard of the last one being done before but three always makes for a better test for some reason. ow and thanks for the reassurance mycot. this may be a long experiment if i do manage to get viable cells i want to test a claim i heard a while ago. which was the longer you leave sclerota the bigger they become. has any one heard of this?

I don't think that's such a wild "claim"...isn't that the way it goes with many living growing things? The longer you let them grow, the bigger they get? Dee
