Smaller Rye Jars?

I'm interested in venturing into the world of rye, but everything I find in how to prepare it is for quart jars. My problem is my PC doesn't hold quart jars, only pints. (It fit the bill when I bought it). Instead of buying a new PC, is there a way I can use the pint jars in place of the quarts? I figured I could, I'm only looking for small scale.

Im no expert but I dont see what the difference would be if you were to use pint jars instead of the quart jars. Just do everything as if you were gonna use the quart jars, but put it in the pints. just dont mix a whole lot at once or youll be stuck with alot of leftovers.

Good Luck!

Just fill the smaller jars 2/3-3/4 full, just like a qt. Most people use qt's with grains because it is one of the larger commonly found jars, but smaller jars will be fine.

Sure you can use smaller jars than quarts. Most folks use the larger jars to allow for some air space in the jars and it gives room to shake the grain to redistribute myc.
With the brf type jars you use a verm barrier and cannot shake the jars. this allows you to fill the smaller jars full.
You wont be able to fill the smaller jars as full with grain/rye. If you want to shake 'em.
Small jars still work, but you end up with a bit less material to spawn.
Good luck.
