If you put a fully developed LC in the fridge, I'm curious as to how long it will keep and be useful for (yes I know you shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition)? I have a clone isolate I'd like to keep for future use. |

can't tell you for sure, but I've heard that LC's in the fridge can last a few months. If anything, I'm sure you could innoc other LCs with it and increase its lifespan for a little longer. EDIT: If you decide to extend its life like that, I suggest doing a test jar to make sure it's a clean and healthy lc. |

Some add a little H202 (approx 1-3cc) at this point since the mycelium is able to handle it, this can help prevent contamination. The best LC that would work is the Honey/karo LC imho.

I had an Lc that was kept in a room with air-conditioning for a month, then I forgot about it in a room that spiked to high 80's for about 4 months, found it, and moved out of that place. 2 months later and was able to make 120 perfect jars ![]() So I imagine if you keep it in a fridge you can go well over a year.

I've gone 3-4 months with few problems, however, I have also heard they can last longer. On the other hand, I seal my jar sitting straight up in the fridge in a zip lock back and hold the culture up to the light from time to time to look for discolorations. It has been my experience when any discoloration, or flecks of other than white material occur, then it's best to toss that jar. Remember, contams cost time.

Careful about throwing away LCs, do some test jars first. I've never had a nice looking LC. When you hold it up to a light and look at it the thicker groupings of myc will look very dark like contam, buts just shadows. It takes ALOT of effort to position multiple lights in such away that you perfectly light it up to see the whiteness.
