![]() | n ewbie...have 1/2 pint WBS colonized jar, now what?
I have a 1/2 pint jar that's about 90% fully colonized. Quick question...do i wait until i can't see ANY seeds, where they are all covered 100% by white, or can i use it when you still see a little of teh seeds through the myc? Then, what can i do with this? I have some brf cakes in a fc, bug i haven't messed with any spawn/substrate/casing teks. I still am unsure what to do with something like a grain that is colonized. As i understand it i mix the spawn(colonized WBS) with an other substrate like hpoo or coir. I do have some field grade hpoo that is dried out. Is there a tek where i can use that after i pateurize it? Don't i have to mix it with something else before adding the spaqn (colonized WBS)? |

Hello and Welcome. With a grain type jar being colonized you do want it to be 100% colonized. Spawning partially colonized jars usually leads to contams. As to what to do with it. Yes, you will probably want to spawn it to some type of bulk substrate. One can use Horse or Donkey Poo or other manures, those being the most common. And yes, you will have to at least pasteurize whatever you do go with prior to spawning. You will want to mix said Poo w/ equal parts of straw or coir/ and you may add some vermiculite as well. Since I usually don't have access to Poo, I use a mix of Coir, worm castings and verm. You should also read up on casing teks as well. It's not a requirement but many do use one. Look in the archives. You'll see lots of threads on the subject. Come back w/ any questions you might have and we'll go from there! Best of Luck to your project(s)

You will be mixing your horse Poo w/at least straw and thens paseurize it. Afterward, in the cleanest aread , you will want to birth adn mix it in and htne hope and wait =. if the whole thing gets inoculating that;s great,.If not ,then you wasted your money. Other than plastic tubs, eatrthworm castings are the most expensice part of my hobby and I aways gert some shromies myself ans tto share. Well god nght folds. I am typijng and correcting more than tryping eos i will see yuo all tomorrowy I hopeˇ
