i have decided to work with substrate bags instead of monotubs because of ease. i have loosely put together a list of things i might need for the sub. spawn bags - $14.50 - sporeworks wild bird seed - $12.00 - walmart horse poo - free - farmer poo worm castings - have vermiculite - have BRF - have coir - $13.00 - petco coffee grounds - starbucks lime - have gypsum - 10$ - ace kelp/blood - have veg oil - have d earth - 7$ - natures bin wheat straw - 5$ natures bin i want to make the best mix possible to fruit in bags. i know it will take some trial and error but does anyone have a good ratio of ingredients for me? |

Hi, and welcome to Mycotopia. ![]() If it were me, I would go heavy on the hpoo, verm, and straw. I would go very sparingly with the coffee and worm castings. That's a hell of a mix for your substrate! Hope it works out well for you. |

i was trying to avoid pressure cooking the jars of grain. i understand its possible to hydrate the grain, and pressure cook everything together, then just innoculate with a hefty amount of liquid culture. i have done this before successfully with pan cyans in jars though using only millet/poo i would like to just fruit them in the bags invitro with some kind of mutated strain to cut down on even more labor, space, and contaminate risk. but i could settle for just breaking up the colonized substrate, and casing it in monotubs or trays to be used in a martha setup. needless to say i'm done washing out qt jars, and tending to 30-50 of them at a time, it's alot of work. i'm moving on to spawn bags anyways so why not just perfect substrate bags, and cut out even more work. |
