lc questions??

How long should I pc my lc jars for I'm using honey/karo in regular 1/2 pints?? Should i put some broken glass or marbles to help stirring?? Do I flame sterilize the airport between each jar?? Thanks

SWINJD PC's them the same as the PF jars, etc. Which is about 15 psi for 40 mins or so. Some folks use the glass in there, SWINJD has never done that and has had good success with Karo tek. As for the airport, I've never used one, so I couldn't tell you. But, I would assume that the airport, being silicone, should never be flamed...

Oh I see... duh...

I would just wrap it in aluminum foil, and pop it in the PC to sterilize it, then you can wipe the needle with alcohol right before you pop it in... there may be a better way, but that's what I would do.

I would just flame and wipe it down with alcohol. The needle will never touch your LC, and air coming through the needle will encounter the polyfil first if you've followed the wise hippie's instructions.

5 psi for 25 to 30 minutes and yes honey is very subseptable to carmalization.

I also am about to try my hand at making a LC. I plan on doing the same thing as Vkambull with honey. However i will be boiling my jar because i dont own a PC.

Im very curious to see how your jar turns out Vkambull, and i hope that honey doesnt caramelize! I hope the same for myself as well lol, and i will post my results when its done.

You could try agave nectar. Apparently its next to impossible to get the stuff to crystallize. Worked for someone I know.

room temp is fine
once spores germinate,
lc's take off relatively quick.
what's you ambient temp?

around 70 to 75 degrees

75 degrees f is just fine, no need to move them.

i put lc's in the fridge about 2 weeks in, to slow progress..
cold won't kill mycelium, but it'll help extend it's life span.

just avoid any freezing/excessively hot temps.
