![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A nice surprise from the Blue Oyster
I've been keeping this batch alive for over a year now, Making more WBS jars every couple of months. I kind of let it go for about 6 months now but I had 6 pints of spawn still in the fridge. I looked at them today to asses what i'm going to do to get some fruits from it and try again to make a LC. I did a double take and noticed on of the jars in the coolest part of the fridge (this thing slightly freezes things If I'm not careful) There was a huge invitro cluster growing inside the jar and its starting to shoot pins. Man this has been a very hardy strain to grow like this in a fridge at 35 deg F over 6 months. Cant wait to get em going on a larger scale. Thanks to sporeworks for the original culture syringe. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Man, that IS sweet... I'd grow more oysters if they didn't sprout like weeds around here, but it would be cool to have some going inside during the winter... gotta get a strain going sometime. Very cool pics! I never knew oysters would fruit invitro, but it makes sense, as they're a very hardy mush.. ![]() soliver |

Looks healthy. I've got some pearl started up and would love to be able to preserve the culture for a year. Is colonized jar of wbs a good way to preserve? That looks like a pint jar but couldn't see the lid from your pics. Is there some kind of filter on that jar lid? Did you wrap that with something to keep out the light? |

Thats pretty neat. I also store my wbs jars in the fridge for later use (from the spawn you sent me). I guess I need to take a look this morning. Cool stuff Wildburr

The weird thing is its growing fairly fast in the cold temps. It has grown another 1/4 inch in the last couple of days. I wonder if I have accidentally gotten a strain that likes the cold temps of near freezing.
