Biggun to be cloned... cake infected?

Hello guys, long time no see again ^^. I'm glad to be back here after a long break and struggling with my pressure cooker ... But that doesn't matter

I have a cake that has grown only 2 fruits and it seems to be infected with green mold on the sides. But I'm not sure, because it looks like the mycelium is eating it up anyway (?!)
That big shroom (that I have named Cartman - cuz it's so fat! ) is probably the biggest and juiciest thing I've grown and I would like to clone it's tissue.

I was thinking that I could just use rye jars or liquid innoculant. Or Can I? I don't have petri dishes. Is it safe? Will the fruit tissue be clean and can it be used for cloning? These are the things that bother me about it. What do you think?

Nice shroom man!! as far as cloneing it goes your best bet would be to open the stem of it with a scaple or something similar in a sterile area and take a piece of the inside tissue for an LC. Also if you wanted you could give it a good flash dunk in a little H2o2 just to be safe.

The tissue on the inside of the mushie will be sterile so it is not needed just as an added precaution to contams. Nice one btw!! Oh and from the pics the cake looks just fine but its kinda hard to tell...

Thanks. Thought so. I've just never tried to make an LC out of a cloned tissue. Only from multispore.

try the 9er tek. that IS the best way to clone without getting into agar. IMHO it's so simple a caveman could do it. click the yellow link 9er tek and read up on it. it's simply, um simple. good luck and keep us posted

Cardboard is realllllllly easy also. Popcorn has been pretty easy for me so far.

Might not be green mold usually the green will take over the white. The shroom shouldn't look that robust from a trich infected cake it could be bruising which is fixed with a dunk. Good way to see if its mold is to run a q-tip over the spot that looks green and if it rubs off on the q-tip then it is mold.

test that "green mold" with a q tip, rub it on the green spot, if it comes off on the q tip, then its mold, if it remains on the cake it's just bruising. i notice my cakes usually bruise green at first and my casings are more blue...have no idea why...but yeah, check that with a qtip, should let you know what it is right away.

You may be right, copernicus. It might just be bruising. I'm dunking the cake right now since the green stuff stopped looking suspicious to me anymore. All these B+ bruise kinda green. I mean... I've grown some shrooms before .

The fat clone has cleared the LC mixture pretty well. It looks a bit more dirty than on the picture tho - like if the myc had some dirt on it, but I believe that it's just the mixture impurities, not contamination.

I'm giving it a chance. Cross your fingers cuz there are many jars to be knocked up with that thing :P.

I also knocked a rye jar with the same tissue and it shows some nice signs of growth. I'll post it in a few days.
