PF cake spawn to poo: Dunk before spawning?

My friend has a good little army of B+ cakes that will be done very soon and he plans to use about half of them to spawn some horse dung/verm/coir. Some of the cakes appear to be a little dry. Would it be a good idea to dunk them before he spawns the poo or will the field capacity of the poo provide enough moisture to not matter?

If you are using the cakes as spawn and you know your sub is at field capacity then there is no need to dunk the cakes first.

Yeah that's what he plans on doing. Just spawning them into small trays with poo, maybe even just doing a really small monotub. The whole monotub thing didn't really seem to be around when he did this before but he likes the idea. It seems to eliminate all the stupid stuff like air pumps, humidifiers, perlite, etc. Should only be a few more weeks before he has some fruits!

I'm not a fan of air pumps or humidifiers either. As long as as everything is done clean and not over moist you will be fine. I plan to do a few small mony tubs using some old seedling trays and propagators. Good luck, post how it turns out.

I've been taking pics of all his progress so far. For not doing it for 5 years or so he has been pretty successful overall. 2 Good LC's, EQ's, B+ and not one contam so far. He can't wait to try popcorn either, he just picked up a bag today. He's waiting for funds on Monday for quart jars and after that he should be ready to rock. He just made a new LC using IrishLions new recipe and nocced it up with his B+ LC just to see what happens. Hopefully he gets the same results. He is also going to try his hand at cloning once he sees his first nice cluster.
