![]() | Good vs Bad PF Growth
after 3 days or so, im seeing some good growth in a few treasure jars, but following much research, im still having trouble differentiating between myc growth and possible cobweb contamination. some growth is obvious, i think, by the round shape and sanddollar or shroom gill appearance. other, such as whats pictures, is a bit more random and fuzzy-ish. any good tricks to be sure, or a page ive yet to find that explains identification better? thanks so much!

Not to be rude but that pic literally makes it impossible to tell....Borrow a camera from a friend maybe? Real Myc will look different. It can be ropey, kind of fluffy, even different shades of white all in the same jar, especially off multispore. The best way to tell to a newb (such as myself) is time and patience.

ok... now ive got a whole new set of questions. better pics too! ill just describe both halves of this, and place all pics at end. first are the three jars ive birthed into my chamber. after birth, they were rolled in verm and DEC'd. my question is: should i be seeing more than the tiny needle-like myc structures poking out? im on day 3 and was under the assumption that id see pinning very quickly after birth. light about 18/24, 75deg, 99%hum. the delay might be due to me birthing before pinning really kicked in, but this was a necessary evil due to an upcoming vacation. they were fully colonized +2 days tho... anyway, am i right about the reason? or do have another problem? the far right cake broke in half trying to pry outta the jar, but seems ok... the last few pics are about the second half of my question. i had a jar that was a bit behind in full colonization... not much and still going strong, but there are already 4-5 pins forming near the verm layer. theyre about an inch or so long, and i dont want them having a negative effect on the jar fully colonizing... should i pick em or leave em? i was considering going invitro on half of these, but the only room in the jars is the dry verm layer, theyre not shrinkin up much... and i kinda want more than a half inch cylinder of magic... these are treasure coasts knocked up on july 4 (but all jar pics are same jar)... thanks so much... [edit] also, the verm layer in the jar shown is gone because i was drunk. only reason i can give... im lucky i didnt eat em... just a couple of days ago though... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

whew! great... thanks... now i can breathe. ive noticed small water droplets on the cakes, from the top im sure, and was hoping i might also find out the negative effects on myc that cause this to be undesirable? after this flush, i can make a drip shield, but i dont wanna risk contamination. should i be wiping them dry with a steralized wash cloth i can keep in the chamber? this will be impossible in the coming weeks, but i can deal with it for now if necessary.... i suppose... seems like it would be requred daily... also seems risky :/

I would just leave them alone. They look very good and healthy. As said they are about to explode. Just sit back, smoke one, fan em hear and there and wait..... Good Job!

I hate to constantly freak out about my cakes to you guys, i really do feel terrible and helpless, but i think i might be in trouble this time. ive got part of my cake not getting nearly as fuzzy as the rest of it. i feel like my first reaction should be its where the myc is coming through the verm i rolled on at birth, but the shape and color of parts have me worried. the shape of the lesser-grown area is eerily similar to the circular pattern made by spores at innoculation of a jar. there is one streak that winds almost to the top the cake, so its not perfectly round, but too close for comfort. there are also places in it that have a yellow to brown residue on them. it looks alot more prevalent in the picture than it does in person, dont know how my camera is spreading the color but it is. anyway, am i screwed? plant outside? or is it just myc being slower in an area that happens to be roundish with myc pissing? there are areas where the myc is not nearly as thick, but still perfectly white, most of teh weird area like that actually... ![]() i am truly grateful for your help and time. ![]()
