![]() ![]() ![]() | pan cyan - post 1st flush recasing?
should I recase a tray of pan cyans after the first flush, or just let it be, after rehydrating it? and if you did recase it, would it go back to the FC or the incubator to recolonize the new casing?

I've heard some different opinions on this from the experts some time ago. Spacecake said no additional casing. Eatyualive said very light new casing after each flush (possibly only patching where it might have been ripped from picking shrooms) (post 50 and 53 here http://forums.mycotopia.net/fungi-gr...tml#post717870 (Somewhat strange looking Panaeolus Cambodgiensis mycelium - mold!?)) Cap said scrape off old casing and re-case. Dr. Hallucination also said he kept the casings and didn't apply new ones. (http://forums.mycotopia.net/fungi-gr...n-dunking.html (Pan Dunking ?)) My own experiences are too limited to say anything at all about the relative merits of the different approaches. I mostly did as Spacecake and that worked. I misapplied some of cap's advice to feralronin so that this didn't work for me was my own fault probably. Hope no one is going to kill me for quoting old and dusty threads. :-) Good luck!

( (Pan Dunking ?)http://forums.mycotopia.net/fungi-gr...n-dunking.html (Pan Dunking ?)) ok, thanks all, i have been recasing and the following flushes have been CRAP! i generally "scrape" it like eatu does, with a shower of water, and i really like that. however it is a gentler spray with pans than with cubies. So i think i'll try out the no recasing, possibly light patching if needed. my pans come off the sub very easily and don't tear it up at all, so probably won't even need to patch. hope this improves my later flushes. the first is really full, then it dwindles to a few stragglers. again thanks shanti, and thanks to the mods too.
