![]() | Invitro Dunk?
Hey everyone as outlined in this thread http://www.shroomery.org/forums/show...umber/10629215 I'm planning on fruiting in some quart jars invitro as I have quart jars of rye spawn colonized that will be spawned outside but the bottom 30-40% of mycellium will be left in the jar to fruit like this: http://files.shroomery.org/files/09-...ar_culture.jpg http://files.shroomery.org/files/032...-old_tech1.jpg This spawn has been colonized for some time and gone unrefrigerated so lately it has been suffering from a bit of evaporation so I definately think a dunk is a good idea. Since I can't take the cake out of the jars Ill be pouring water into the jar to submerge the colonized grain, but since it'll most likely just float I need a way to keep it down. I'm thinking about wiping a skewer with alcohol, cutting it to size so that when its lodged into the top of mycellium and the lid is screwed onto the jar after pouring in the water, the lid will push the mycellium under the water through the skewer, without the skewer just going all the way through. Any ideas on how to dunk the mycellium without removing it from the jars are appreciated Stay free |

One of the main reasons I want to dunk is because these jars have been colonized for some time and gone unrefrigerated. In jars where there are 2 injection holes, the mycellium under the hole with the least tape appears to be suffering from evaporation, what was once colonized grain looks to be stripped of its healthy myc, similiar to how grains look once you break them up as to opposed to when theyre colonized. I just imagine the myc wouldn't mind a drink. Or I guess I could just mist the shit out of it I suppose if nothing else I could just fill the jar halfway with water and if it floats it floats, let it chill for like 6 hours and if it wants to itll drink some, then just pour it out and case. Cant hurt right? |
