Can a clone sectoring on MEA because of a contam?

Made 4 plates from a fruitbody, all looks the same cottony myc, but on a contaminated plate the myc is sectoring.
Might be some accidental spores or a piece of other myc, but is it possible for a fruitbody clone to behave differently?
Will a clone look like the same even on a different substrate or even under other circumstances?

A clone isn't an isolate so it will still sector.

I think Jeets said exactly the opposite of what you said, Myc.

If I take a piece of a fruit body, and put it on agar, will it sector?

If I put the pieces from the same fruit body on different agars (MEA, PDA etc) will they look the same?

No pic until monday

The different mediums won't make a difference in the culture sectoring. There's over 200 organisms able to be active in a single fruitbody. If you are growing from MS several sub strains can be active in a cloned fruitbody.

This is a great reason we isolate on agar. : )
