Quick Hippie bag questions

Just some quick questions for those who have used Hippie bags

When injecting into the bag should you aim the needle to go inside the substrate in the bag or should you just have the liquid squirt on top of the substrate in the bag?

Is any fresh air exchange needed during colonization time before 100% When using jars sometimes I use to take the tape off to help stalled jars

Should bags be folded down or not during colonization? Should they be hung up to bring in air?

Should you break up the mycelluim when its 50% or 75% I have read dif suggestions

any reason to apply new clean tape back over silicon port when done?

Unfold the bag and shoot into the substrate..Unfolding the bag and pulling some air in thru the filter patch is what you want to do. I would break it up around 40% and 70% colonized..it's up to you 50% and 75% will work.

No need to put tape over the silicone after innoc..the silicone blob is self healing.

Thanks.. some of those questions are post inoc. I should have been clearer

So after inoculation you still recommend to pull air in and force out of the bag while colonization is not yet 100 percent?


Or should you only introduce air exchange after 100% ?

I assume it doesn't matter if the back is folded down or not after inoc while you are waiting.

You don't want much FAE till after it's 100% colonized. He's saying just to break the bag up at different stages.

I'd never heard this about breaking up the bags during colonization. FOAF has a bag that's about 50% now, should he break up the myc? Does that speed colonization or make it more complete? What's the deal here?

When you break it up your creating more spawn points for the un colonized part to finish up.
