Fresh Poo

FOAF Just got 40 pounds of fresh H-Poo from a local stable.

Its very fresh, and very moist. So hes pondering the various ways there are to
properly prepare it for use.

Should he...
- Dry it in the sun for a few days to remove the ammonia?
- Leech it out, by hosing it down in a bucket for an hour?
- Or both

.......or is there a way it can be prepped for use at this moment? (mind you its fresh)

Hosing it in a bucket will be a messy way to dispose of 40lbs of HP... just spread
it out on a tarp and let nature do it's thing.

Thanks Soliver and Meku

yea its outside spread out into individual nugs.

SWIM lives in a city and is concerned that the nugs may, or may not be, a little soaked in urine.

They had three big dumpsters full of Poo....Some were mixed with wood chips and some were fresh nugs that didnt have anything stuck to them. SWIM took
a few shovel fulls of the fresh nugs, gave his thanks and made his way.
But hes uncertain if the poo came from inside one of the stalls. Or outside in the street.

Urine or not it's still good.
Do as stated above, spread it out on a tarp and let the elements do it's thing.
If you don't live where you get some rain, a good watering does good. I will usually put the horse pooh that I get from the stables, that I use on my lawn, on alittle incline so the water runs off and doesn't puddle.
Turning it every few days speeds up the process!

How long does nature take to do it's thing?

Could you speed things up by mixing with equal
volume of straw, piling it in a heap, and composting?

Bump

After digging around in the vaults for quite some time Iv'e found a few posts were people have used fresh H-Poo with success.

One of the posts mentions drying it out in the oven.......a few other guys mention Leeching the hell out of it with some lime and then pastureizing.

I know leaving it out to sit in the elements would be Ideal.

But SWIM currently has a balcony full of fresh H-poo. He plans on waiting for nature to run its course on the bulk of it. But he wants to work with a few small pieces for now because he is recently unemployed, and is very bored

I think Hes going to go hose it down in a bucket. And then throw that shit in the oven at 150-200 to dry. Then Pastureize at about 160-170 and let that shit cool.

He might be setting himself up for certain failure, but i do have a good feeling about this.

(I just hope SWIM doesnt permanently stink up his House)
....ill keep you posted

If you've got some free time, look around for a
source that is already aged. Not that hard to find.

Well SWIM lives in a very urban environment. Most of the poop available is fresh from the stall or out in the street. To find properly aged poop would involve combing up and down many populated city streets, while weaving traffic (SWIM rides a bike) at the same time........and what would be gained
would be minimal at best....

However i went to the spot to check out the poop and to get some for myself (i grow veggies)......
and The poop does not smell like poop at all, but has that earthy soil-like smell.

It breaks apart in your hand but it is moist...and not the least bit dry yet.......

So I told my FOAF if he is THAT bored than go ahead and try to leech a small portion of it to test it out on a tray or two.....

and i think hes working on that ATM
