heat bomb saftey and stalling bags two questions

Hello, I have a a bunch of hippies bags. They seem to be stalling. I got a little mycellum after the first 2 weeks aroud thie incoulation point and that is about it. 4 weeks later nothing. I asume that the staiiling is due to the fact that temp varies down to 70 constantly. I want to get a heat bomb but i am scared due to the fire hazard that a heat bomb may cause. Im not sure but im just leery of leaving a unintended aquarium heater in a plastic bottle.
Are these unfounded fears. And do you think that would help the stall? Or should i add just a little fresh air to the bag through the filter patch?

thanks

some air would be great-
you can hang bags up
and the weight will suck air in thru filter,
to get it out just roll bag up to squeeze
then re-hang to re-fill with fresh.
70 will slow growth a lot,
colonization needs to go fast to
beat out contams.
at 4 weeks after inoculation
your bags may have dried out
or even fallen to bacteria, etc.
good luck.

Heat bombs are totally fine!
I use a rubbermaide tote with a aquarium heater implanted in the bottom, fill with water then a second tote goes into that tote & that one is the one that holds your jars.
but a heat bomb is fine as long as there is always water in the bottle

70 is too cold. Can you put 'em in a box wrapped up in a blanket on top of the frige or the TV? Both those appliances generate a decent amount of warmth.

good idea bucky. i've used blankets to wrap incubation chambers that were too cold, and it worked wonders.

Heat bomb-making one to last for long time and opening question

Hello. I am making a heat bomb for my incubator. Id like to make one that last a long time as I am a sporadic grower. Is there anything I should add to the water so the water doesnt get funky or anything. Or does it not matter since it will be sealed shut with silicon? Also when making the heat bomb if i use a bottle or jar say like a pizza sauce or sobe bottle should you drill a hole through the cap and silicon or should you silicon the enter jar opening? thanks again

Add a lot of salt to the water. It will keep any funky (bacteria) from growing.

Im sorry i don't understand. You take the top off of the bottle, put the heater in silicone it shut and the for good measures cut into the cap so you can put the cap back on as well? I just realized that my water heater has a mostly plastic cover where i would be applying silicon at the top. It is "shatter proof" Will that be an issue with the silicone bond? I'm use to using all glass heaters

i remove cap,
cut out a channel
from the bottle neck
wide enough to slide
the power cord past
the threads
pop in the heater with
cord thru notch
then silicon the notch.
that was i can take lid off
put in back on
to change water , etc.
