![]() | double ended casing question
Somebody needs to do some double ended casing on a cake and needs to fill in a couple of spots left from picking. they have a couple uncolinized tek jars that still have fresh verm in them. Would it be ok for them to use the stuff out of those jars to put on other cakes and if so should they wet down the verm before they put it on theu cake??

I wouldn't if the uncolonized jars have been inoculated. That would just be a waste of time in terms of the inoculation.

I HAVE used the verm that came on the top of the cake when I birthed it. Not sure if its the best idea as it is the layer that blocks contams from entering the jars making it somewhat responsible for introducing such things to your fruiting chamber. Yes you want to wet the verm on the bottom and the top.

My bad, it's saturday morning don't expect me to be on top of it lol. I wouldn't in case the verm has uncolonized brf stuck to it because that would be a BIG invite for contams if Im understanding what you are saying correctly. Just dunk it and start looking for a new bag of verm...

And innoculate those jars that are just sitting there.....I've had plenty of cakes flush fine without DEC and I wouldn't risk using anything that touched uncolonized BRF in your situation unless you have enough spawn to play with....

Yeah I could see how that would be a problem. If you have anything colonized you could try an LC with a little chunk of what you have if you got a glovebox.

In a true pinch you can use a clear garbage bag and some bleach/water solution in a squirt bottle. I've done that in the past. I have also used those clear vinyl or whatever bags that new comforters come in from walmart as a glovebox. You get a new comforter and a glovebox for 30 bucks.....not bad...
