Luer Lock vs Slip

I understand the difference between the 2 is the type of connection.

But why do you only see talk about Luer Lock and nothing really about Luer Slip?

Is is just a preference between the 2 type of connections or is there an issue with the Luer Slip?

I'll weigh in on this one- if you get a stopped up needle- and it happens, and you've been wiggling the needle in and out of a few jars, it is possible to blow the needle off the syringe with slip.

Fortunately I caught it before I wasted an entire syringe.

Maybe that's why lock is preferred...

lock is more secure, doesn't come off, leak.

While on the subject..... are the needles interchangable. For instance. I purchase a 3 pk of 35 cc luer-slip syringes. Will the luer-lock needles fit?. I have not opened package since i was planing on returning. But if they work I may just keep and use anyhow. Or are theses syringes not any good without a special slip sytle needle?

locks are threaded, slips are not.
putting a slip needle on a lock body
makes it even more likely to come off accidentally.

Really not sure- that was VERY early on...

I now use (I BELIEVE) a 14 X 2 1/2 needle (spinal needle).

never stops up.

have to squeeze gently, though...

well i use a variety as i have collected a few different styles from various vendors/topiates usually 18ga though i have a 12!!! love the twelve for slurry/LC i believe the ones i had problems with were the 18's though
but now that you point it out it was a luer lock needle on a lockless syringe

You can use a luer lock needle on a luer slip syringe body and it works reasonably well. I don't know about the other way around, but I wouldn't wanna try it either

they seem to interchange pretty well for the most part i have had one type of syringe(luer lock) that would not recieve a luer slip needle but its original needle fits all of my other syringes "if the glove fits wear it"? i think thats an expression
