![]() | moisture on top of bulk sub, good or bad? hey all, I checked up on my trays of poo/rye straw strain is "chilean" yesterday & everything looks fantastic all except a few tiny pools of water, is this normal? I dont have any pics but this is how the sub was prepared.about 4 quarts Rye straw 1 fat qt h/poo, Put into a pillow case then paturized for 90min with about 3/4 cup hydrated lime, let drip dry over night then wrung the shit out of it to get the extra water out, used about 2 1/2 quarts colonized Rye berries. yesterday i used a clean paper towel to gently sopp up the droplets and wiped down the tin foil cover to get extra water off. It's about 90%-95% now should I case & make the casing layer a little less than feild capacity so it soaks up whatever extra water is there? thanx for any input ![]() "ritter" |

pooling occurs most likely when you are taking the lid off to check on your work you can tamp it up with a dry corner of a paper towell or what i do i s just tip it and make all the water run into the sides and bottom i just make sure i dont do that too often. the other thing you want to do to prevent it in the first place would be to wipe the lid of you tray of all water when opening the casing layer is not necessary for cubies though until recently i used them every time i like to use peat moss and a tad bit of verm and lime for my casing layers
