![]() ![]() | Are these instructions accurate? Let say you have 4 quarts of WBS spawn ready. Look for a tech on making a simple mono tub. If you have 4 qts of spawn, go to your local petsmart, petstore, hydro store, whatever, get a brick of coco coir. place brick of coir in bottom of 5 gallon bucket or whatever. pour in water that has been heated to 170-190F place lid on bucket, come back in 6-8hrs when it has cooled completly. prepare mono tub with or without black trash can liner in bottom as outlined in mono tub tek. take handfuls of prepared coir and squeeze out excess water leaving only a couple drops dripping, toss in mono tub, repeat until you have a sub depth of 4" or close to it.. mix in 4 quarts WBS spawn throroughly. place lid on mono tub, wait ten days.. when fully colonized decide whether to case or not.. i usually don't and have great results.. if uncased, fan and mist often, keep humidty high, spray inner walls and introduce to light.. the rest will take care of its own, harvest, dunk for 2-3 hours and repeat. ------------------- I found this, and decided it seemed effective and simple. Would you all agree with it? If not, what would you add or take away? When he says "if uncased, fan and mist often, keep humidity high.." what does that mean? I wanted to use a monotub, and I know you don't need to do that with one. Any help is appreciated! |

should work... but if you want bigger flushes than you may want to add poo, straw, hip3's supercake mix ect. read this... it's by eatyoualive http://forums.mycotopia.net/grow-cha...ngle-tubs.html (Eatyu's How To (dub tubs and single tubs)) he has other great posts archived here http://forums.mycotopia.net/usernote...iewuser&u=5996 |

Well, I'm actually not sure if I'm doing that much. I think I'm just doing 1 quart of spawn, which would take 3 quarts of coir, would that be reasonable for only coir? About what dry weight would one flush give with a quart of spawn and coir? I'd like at least an ounce, but I'm still considering doing something on a larger scale (no pun intended ) to get more. How much spawn would you need to get at least 3 ounces out of a flush?

I have never tried a "bulk" with coir like you are speaking of. I have only used it for a casing layer. I have however spawned 1 quart of PF cake spawn to about 2.5 quarts of hpoo/verm and got a little over a quarter pound.... I would find some poo if you are looking for results like that, but like I said Ive never messed with spawning to just coir. I have seen differing results and honestly havent been all that impressed with what Ive seen straight coir do. Here is the bowl that gave me a quarter pound. GT is the strain. The bowl was around 10 inches in diameter and I think the substrate depth was about 5 inches or so. I fruited it in a chamber just like you would use for pf cakes.

You got 4 ounces from one flush???? Or all the flushes combined? I like those results, and I'll be doing GTs. Would grain work the same as PF cake spawn? I may just have to do you method. Did you create a log or anything? I'll get back to you on this. Thank you so much!! |

me thinks you should take things one step at a time to have a better chance of success.... why not use multiple smaller tupperware containers for your bulk grow that way you "spread your eggs" instead of keeping them all in one basket. try using a 5x12x4 or something along those lines... i used those when i first started doing bulk and actually still use them quite often should be able to spawn one quart to poo(castings)/coir/verm mixture... always worked well for me (may be a bit heavy on the spawn... but it doesn't hurt if you have lots, less tiem for contams to strike) just my 0.2 |

plan sounds good, with a few changes i'd make: - add poo or worm castings for additional nutrients - add verm for more moisture retention - like you mentioned, no need to spray the walls or mist the substrate - in fact you will probably be wiping excess moisture from the tub....monotubs have ultra high humidity also, estimating yields from someone else's grow is next to impossible, especially from multispore grows. if you want bigger yields, use poo/castings and lots of coir & verm for moisture retention.

That sounds like it would work just fine With that much airspace in the bucket it might need a little misting, hard to say. Trays are a great way to start and I think that when it comes to practicing with poo, smaller is better as far as tray size. High spawn ratio/smaller tray = better chance of success. Just make sure you pasteurize properly, not too wet, not too dry and you will be just fine. The bowl I posted a pic of was my very first try at poo ever so it's not that hard just read the directions.

coir is excellent bulk substrate, the nutes mostly come from your grain spawn anyway, neither straw nor manure are exactly nute-rich. | |

4oz. Dry or Wet? Dry sounds too good to be true. Coir will help hold a lot of moisture. I do believe that moisture and FAE is what makes fruits BIG. I would suggest adding some "super cake additives" to the mix. to give a bit more nutes. I have been using additives and have done well with them. I prefer to add them into my spawn before sterilizing it. I know some add it in when spawning. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If I can get ahold of a flash drive soon Ill post pics of everything that I picked out of the bowl to give you a better idea of what I got and yes it was dry. The larger ones in the pic dried up to 1/4 oz each with thick meaty stems. You don't have to believe me, its just what I got lol. No reason to make that up.
