![]() | WBS jar lids...
When I put the jar lid on the jar, I put a piece of tyvek over the mouth of the jar, drilled a hole in the plastic lid, stuffed some stuffing in the hole, and I think I'm ready to pressure cook it, but when I inoculate, do I just poke the needle through the tyvek?

Honestly, I think you are going a bit overboard. I understand the need to prevent contams from entering the jar, but you will still need some FAE. I'd do one or the other, not both. Personally, I'd just drill your holes, cover well with foil, and pc. After inoculation you can cover/stuff the holes. I prefer to use the micropore breathable tape.

Yeah, I meant poly-fil when I said stuffing. I'll go ahead and just use the hole with the poly. Thanks guys! Oh, and one other thing, when I simmered by WBS, a fair amount burst. I say about 15% of the seeds. Is this bad, or can I just leave it? |

yes the busted seeds can cause problems in ur grows. ive got contaminate a few times and im almost certain is was the cracked corn or busted wbs. it even states in lazlo's tek to not let it bust. that is kinda the reason to pull out all the ones that float. carries to much water.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i dont ever simmer my birdseed and other than dirty spores i have not had any contams i first measure my seed put it in a bucket and put the hose in the bucket allowing it to overflow this will get out all the funk and "garbage" then dump out all the water(you dont have to get it all just what comes out easily without dumping your grain) then i transfer that over to my stew pot (make sure this vessel has a lid) and add 200 degree water until all the grain is covered with a healthy inch of water to make up for the absorption that will occur during hydration. put a lid on it for one hour and done strain off any extra water and load your jars i like to add some verm here and mix it up before i load my jars.
