Mushroom Extract????

Can I use 99% iso to make a mushroom extract?. I know Everclear would be better but I cannot get it. So as long as I evaporate all the iso it should be safe right? Any info or reports on this would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't risk it if I were you - there is no guarantee that the additives found in ISO will evaporate, as opposed to solidifying with your extract.

Everclear that i've seen lately is 151proof or 75.5 % alcohol. If you can find 151 proof rum or equivelant that would be the same.

Unfortunately, no. I still have an entire case (12 bottles -1) of 99% ISO
from years ago when I came to the same conclusion. The leftovers from the
ISO shouldn't concern anyone who eats meat from the grocery store, or
anything mass-produced (lord, the chemicals! - I eat 'em too, so help me!)
Buuuuut... when you evap all the fluid, you're left with a brown / purplish
goo that is, for the most part, inactive. I tried this with 5 grams once as a
trial, ate the resulting goo, and only had a minor mood shift... this from a
ground-up batch of field-proven PR's that were super kick-ass...
Nowadays, I dilute the ISO to 80% and use it for cleaning my hands before
messing with FC's... it's no good for anything else in my area of the hobbies.

What soliver said..once the air hits the pscilly is goes inactive pretty much..the pscilly has to be suspended.

Use the strongest booze you can get your hands on.

If you dry your extract completely, it won't keep for more than a few days without a drastic loss in potency.

It must be kept in liquid form (in amber bottles, in the freezer) to maintain potency for any significant length of time.

Booze has it's own special magic anyway...

First I thought that you wanted to destilate the ISO to get a cleaner booze and use it for psilo extraction.

Now I wonder if that would work without making one vomit etc.

try finding ethanol, i belive HEAT fuel line antifreeze is pure ethanol (might be methanol !!DEADLY DONT USE IF IT IS!!). you could allways set up a pot still with a pressure cooker and some 1/4" copper tubing and distill scope or lysterine (or cheap vodka for that matter) to get nearly 200 proof grain alcohol. heres a link to a good process that shulgin himself preformed and verified that it works.
http://deoxy.org/wiki/Mushrooms/Alkaloid_Extraction good luck man just keep any crystals that form under alcohol or they'll oxidize and loose potency. i hear that roughly 3ml is a A+++ if you use 1oz of mush in your extraction and bring it down to 50ml or so.

Well, the problem is that there are huge taxes on ethanol for human consumption. There are no such taxes on industry ethanol so the problem of cheap drinking was solved by adding some nasty additives that would make you puke and feel sick after drinking industry ethanol. This is why you gotta get everclear. I'm afraid it must be really hard to get hands on pure ethanol.

I mean if you only gotta drink a few mls of such brew then it's not bad. It may even be worth giving a shot. Drinking larger quantities would be bad.

Eatyualive has a nice jello recipe in his signature link. I was thinking of using that to make Kool Aid. Formulate it so 8fl oz is equal to 3.5g dry perhaps...
