possible contam want info

so i have recently inoculated some WBS jars with a LC. it seems to be going good untill i notice a little greenish blue dot. It looks like some mold off of cheese. Its very small and i was wondering if this is really such a big deal if my jar has a bit of contam when the rest of it is doing well. And would it still be possible to grow even if there was a contam? I will post pics if the dots get any bigger, cuz you wouldnt even be able to see if i did take a pic now.

Isolate that jar away from the others now. Was it after a shake?
You could still grow it outside, if the WBS has enough colonized material to spawn with.

Sounds like Trich. Do you have any pics? I've tossed all my contamed jars, but some people have said that the mycellium may possibly take over the contam, but I've never had that happen. It would help if you had some pics.

a small bit of green in a mostly good colonized jar? I have taken the good from the bad [g2g] many times with no problems but success depends on alot of variables.

Shroomette suggested to me when I was having wetspot to give it sunlight and see if that will kill the contam. It didn't work for me, but I had a lot of contam in mine. You might try it, if it is trich, but who knows if it will work. G2G could work out for you. What percentage of healthy mycellium do you have in your jar?

I have seen people have limited success by nursing a contaminated project. But those people are not the majority - most find that contamination not only ruins their current project but tends towards ruining future projects (one spot of the mean green represents a few million spores).

I, personally, have a zero tolerance policy for contams (be it a cake or a whole tub). I toss that shit out the door the instant it shows it's ugly head.

I've heard mycel gets weak when it gets dehydrated. You know what the doctor says, lots of liquids. If you're going to try to revive it in some way or resuce it you may want to hydrate it a little to.

Probably not the best idea, as you are gonna be giving the trich some water too.

Best to toss it because the spores will still be there.
