clone LCs not taking to grain

got some clone LCs that i've noccd some popcorn/poo jars with about two weeks ago and they never did anything, contam or otherwise. so today i opened them up to see what was going on. it smelled just like they did when they come from the PC, fresh. and there was very little mycellium at all in any of the jars. some around the bottoms but that was it.

LC mix is 1 tsp pure vanilla extract to 350ml of h20

jars have all been 60/40 popcorn/poo pints.

the LCs are pristine and there is crap tons of great growth in them all. none have invited contams into anything they have been used on, so what gives?

how's your fae on those jars? what about moisture content in the grains (are they wet/dry)?

and, BTW....why did you put poop in your grain jars??

good fae. poly hole. tried and true.
perfect moisture content i'd say.
poo just for some oooomf. it's working and has been for a bit with straight spore injections.

hence why i ask what's going on. i've just never had this happen. doesn't make sense.

You probably missed the mycelium and injected mostly water in the jars.

im sure that is highly possible, though my syringes were showing much growth and were used the same day i made them. still

is that a common thing though?

It's certainly easier to get enough spores in a syringe. In a LC, the myc can clump together making it difficult to evenly distribute. This is why some peeps add broken glass to their jars. It helps to shred the mycelium and draw it out of the jar. You need a fair amount to get healthy colonization.

I know if the moisture content is good, than you add a syrenge full of water you're mycel filled water will suffocate in the bottom of the jar. I'd say be very careful adding water to any substrate thats not actually colonized..., or adding any LC to any grain thats not slighly dehydrated. I seemed to have made this same mistake a couple many times recently. The good news is as log as nothing contamed you should be able to colonize with a chunk of solid mycle fairly easily.

how many cc's of LC did you shoot per jar?

i just shot up some grain jars with LC the other day, some of the jars got huge growth right away, while others got barely any.. due to the mycelium clumping in the syringe, and sometimes you only shoot water and not the myc.. so that might be an issue like stated previously.

the other questionable thing is the poop. just question it. dont know if its a problem but.. ? u got a puzzler here!

thanks peeps.

just used a couple of cc's of clone LC in each jar. the suffocation idea sounds like the culprit, but i'm sure that all y'alls ideas had a part to play.

trying again with the actual piece of flesh that started the clone LCs. i got a real nice giant cluster fruit from my BHTs that i'm dying to get going.
