PESA Ethanol Extract

Hi guys. Been away some time.
I had some extra shrooms and wated to give this a try.

Materials:

50 gr. cracker dry Shrooms (Pesa Strain)
600 mL 96% Ethanol
5 gr. Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
1 L Jar with lid

Used a coffee grinder to pulverize the Shrooms and put the powder in the Jar. Added the 5 gr of powdered Vitamin C. I suggest buying pure ascorbic acid crystals as opposed to using the vitamin C pills, but those will work too.
I preheated the 600 mL alcohol to 40C and poured it into the jar. Closed the lid tight and shake like hell for a couple of minutes. Repeated twice a day for 4 days.

And this is what i got today. I intend to evaporate the alcohol to 50 ML or maybe 100.

That is neat joystck. How do you determine the amount for dose when ingesting the extract?

50g dried fungus, at 3g per dose, is about 16 doses

600ml alcohol, at 16 doses, is about 37ml per dose (one "shot" is 45ml)

Looks like your measurements make for a pretty good dose size. Personally I might dilute 50% with H2O just for the burning aspect of 96% ethanol powerful stuff you got there.

Nice work man I wish 96% ethanol was available in Canada I'd love to get a hold of some. I'm assuming that it's available at chem supply houses as lab grade ethanol... perhaps I'll pick that up. A question though for anyone who knows... is there a decent mushroom extraction tek that results ina fairly pure powder? Thanks, and tell us how it is!

I still have to filter this and then evaporate the alcohol to a volume of 100 ml. Since I have 50 grs in solution I expect to use 2 ml per gram. So a dose would be 6 ml of the end product.

If my calculations are correct, There should be around 24 ml of water in this volume of alcohol, so evaporating it to 100 ml and asuming little to no water evaporates, the resulting solution should contain the same 24 ml of water and 76 ml of alcohol, roughly 76% or 152 proof. Correct me if im wrong.

This could easily be diluted in any beverage.

That's a really great idea, I wonder if the alkaloids will precipitate out when it gets close to 100 mL? Those pictures look REALLY great, my extract that I did on Pan. Subbs turned yellow like that also.

OK. I know im lazy.
I left the shrooms soaking in alcohol until last Thursday, and evaporated like half of the volume, then put it away in a jar cause i had to go out. On Saturday i finished reducing to 100 ml. I got some precipitation of what seems to be some white gunk. Im not gonna filter it anymore.

Hope to try it some time soon and post results.

So, what are you filtering through and how? I have a bunch of year-old funpowder that I'd like to extract, but when I tried doing honey I found powder hard to handle...

@Catdaddy: Im using a cheesecloth for filtering the mushroom powder´s first and second wash. Then I use a single coffee filter and then a double coffee filter if necessary. No vacuum, since i dont own a vacuum filtering unit.
