Good spawn should never be wasted, if nothing else try making an outdoor patch just for fun, else if you live in a place like me where cubies don't like the cold, perhaps you know a friend who could use it. The more the merrier. Moose |

That sub is looking great but, for the life of me I can't see one pin, I think you are mistaking the popcorn kernals lightly covered in mycelium for pins. Your sub isn't fully colonized and will likly contamn or you won't get close to the maxium fruiting potental out of it. Patience is a virtue which is well rewared my friend. Might wanna put that sub back in the incubator and let it finish colonizing first. It about 60% from what I can see. Eh maybe 75% but, its not by any means fully colonized, see how white those pocorn kernels are, let the whole sub get to looking like them before fruiting, also during colonizing you don't need the whole maxium air exchange yet thats for fruitng when colonizing you only need a lil. Also, the reason you are seeing water droplets on the sub is because you don't have the sub covered and the moisture is evaping off and creating RH and condesing, when you are trying to create a bulk sub you need to have the sub covered during the colonizing process. This will help retain the moisture in the sub and keep light from penatrating it and prevents premature fruiting, somethng else, when you cover the sub I like using tinfoil but, you can use black plastic if you like, just have some holes in it for breathing probally a 1/16" or 1/8" hole every 2 inches should do nicely. But, indeed cover it so it can finish and put it back in the dark and warm.

Same thing happened to my popcorn tub. I also cut it out and dumped peroxide in the hole. It just kept coming back. I still fruited it and got a good flush out of it but it just kept coming back so after first flush I tossed it. Even though I got a good flush I think I should have tossed it before I even got a flush out of it because now Im worried about how many of them nasty spores I have flying around my house. Gotta scrub the whole place down with bleach. Everything. Im lazy too so that's gonna be a pain in the ass.

![]() | every time? every time i air the box it looks totaly diffarent, and more pins apear ![]() Well you are more patient than I am. I am the FAE in my shroomies world and I have to discipline myself to only check every few hours . I've had trich take most of my bread pans of popcorn this summer. In fact, I went out and counted where I dump them and there are 14 discards. Once the four left are finished I will be doing a full fall cleaning with bleach etc. In my limited experience, the trich on top only indicates a lot more on the bottom. Perhaps your experience will be different. Enjoy the pins |

As stated many times, a good number of veteran growers simply take the summer off because of the high mould counts, the wet and hot weather in most places. So don't feel bad--growing was a battle this summer. Congrats on the pins! |

I definitely lean much harder on invitro methods and cakes during the heat of the summer.

hey zozo thanx for visitinghere is another pictorial update for now i think the growth rate is kind of slow, maybe because of the temps? eather way i got shrooms growing so thats all that matters ![]() i did have another trich outbrake, but i got it under controll... i just hope to cut most of the shrooms down before i got a full blown trich farm in there... needless to say there will be no 2nd flush... but for a first attempt at growing shrooms i have to say im very pleased so far ![]() ![]() ![]() |

thanx guy's ![]() i dont know, this my first ever shroom grow and i have only ever eaten dry shrooms, so those are the first fresh shrooms i ever saw(of the magic kind ), so i have no frame of reference as far as size...so to me they look kind of smallish... the two large shrooms in the picturs have allready opened there vail, should i pick them now? or let them get taller? |

man why throw? i suggest cut the half of the tray (left side including patch) dunk it with 1/100 bleach for 6-16h in cold water (better fridge) and get the big ones at the 2nd flush... about the temp i used to pay too much attention to that. cubensis are tropical fruit and needs high humidity and warm temp. ive seen mushies grown from 16c to 40c and the biggest diffrence is the contaminations at high temps. maybe a little slower at low temps but maybe in a day diffrence. anyway it takes me 4-5-6 days to haverest from the moment pins showed. i let them fully open only if i want to take a print. hate the spores mess in my tea. best to haverest before veil tears off.

For everyone who believes in trying to save a contaminated tray by removing the visible contaminants - please look at those picture again. Every mushroom I see is stunted and misshapen. Some of them have severe physical deformities. None of them is going to be very large and the pinset is quite poor. I can almost guarantee that if you dissect that substrate, you will find it to be quite literally over-run with trich myc. This is NOT a bust or a diss on you, Shroomzion. I'm glad you got a harvest at all. It is just that this grow demonstrates a very common/classic problem with cutting out visible contams - the contaminants still remain and they negatively impact harvest. Contaminants also potentially doom future projects to similar (or worse) fates. That is why I have a zero tolerance policy for contams. If it goes green, it goes out the door ASAP. I can understand nursing limited resources and I'm glad you got some shrooms, man! Again - no diss against you. Just a chance to get up on the old cyber-soapbox....

Ah, I feel vindicated that Irishlion said what I said. I've been dumping trays in the same place all summer, fourteen in all. The trich I see has always been a small percentage of the contamination. My harvests have been mediocre to poor as well. I've been cleaning and lysolling to keep the problem from becoming chronic. September is the end of summer in this northern neck of the woods. ![]() |

Everybody has better luck (lower contam rates) in the cooler months. Even the folks with clean rooms and autoclaves you can back a VW bug into.

thanx guy's ![]() still fighting the trich... i dont see alot of new pins so i guess im getting close the the end of this flush. i did air dry some shrooms for the week end, and i did 2 dry grams of them, and all i have to say is wow! they are strong indeed. i got the best body high i ever felt in my life, every thing was so good and plesent. i was truly in a happy feel good place for like 4 houres, as it was going down a bit i hit the vaporiser and BAM, it kicked me back up to a very intense level for another 3-4 houres so it was a fun saturday after noon for me![]() anyway here are some more pics of the tub ![]() |

Toss that fucking tub now. You got one flush and that is good. The flush turned out well. You don't want that shit rampant in your house man. Same thing happened to me, I thought I could fight it and every time I did it just came back stronger. I didn't have to cut as much out as you but it sucked. Scrub the house with bleach and move on....

10% bleach in warm water can also be a very, very good cleanser because it is so cheap. Use it up that day or dispose of it, though. Ya can't store bleach water for very long before it becomes inactive. Glad ya got a harvest. They are ugly little buggers, but they look meaty at least. I would strongly advise against trying to print any of those.

when printing from contamned tubs its quite common that the prints will be contamned and will cause you a great loose of spawn materials, but, if you can get one clean quart or pint or whatever of spawn then you can G2G, from that, but, its unlikely that those prints will be clean, maybe wanna looking into Agar, so you can isolate and get a decent clean sector going. This will give you a good isolate and you will be able to filter out any contamns present.

They are all badly deformed for some reason. I can't say for certain, but since half the tray was cut out as contaminated, I would suspect that is the reason for the malformed fruit. Trich is just like cubensis in that it has both a mycelia component and a fruiting body component. When you see green on the surface, you are actually seeing sporulating trichoderma fruit. The green is spores. For every square inch of green you see, there is 2-5 square inches of trich mycelia growing under the surface. That is why trich usually comes back even if you cut out a large portion of substrate. The mycelia runs much faster than cubies and can invade a large area in a short time once it gets a foothold. The only thing faster that commonly contaminates a project is cobweb. So chances are extremely good that the reason all your shrooms are deformed is because the mycelia mat was infested with trich. Safe to eat, by the way. But your prints may be contaminated with trich spores. I would def throw away the first print every cap dropped. Other than that, test each one before you inoculate a large quantity of material. Some prints may be fine - others may be teeming with trich spores.
